Chin implant surgery, chin augmentation surgery, genioplasty surgery and mentoplasty surgery are closely related procedures, usually performed in order to alter or improve the appearance of a person’s lower face area.

Although these procedures are technically different, chin implant surgery, chin augmentation, genioplasty surgery and mentoplasty surgery can be performed in just one setting.

What is the difference between them?
● Chin implant surgery – This procedure uses an implant prosthesis to provide the patient with a better facial features balance – usually, it adds more projection to the chin
● Chin augmentation surgery - The jaw bone is directly altered in order to achieve the desired result
● Sliding genioplasty surgery – The chin bone is cut and then repositioned to a more appropriate location – this procedure adds more vertical height to the chin
● Mentoplasty surgery – This procedure is performed in order to reduce the size of the chin or correct any malformations of the chin caused by abnormal jaw bones

Chin augmentation surgery, chin implant surgery, sliding genioplasty surgery and mentoplasty surgery are very popular choices among both patients and surgeons from all around the world because of their effectiveness and the simplicity of the procedures. These surgeries can be performed either individually or in coordination with rhinoplasty or a neck lift procedure.

Chin Implant Candidates

Chin implant surgery, chin augmentation surgery, genioplasty surgery or mentoplasty surgery are recommended for any individual who is dissatisfied with the look, shape or size of their chin.

Am I Suitable for Chin Implant?

Mentoplasty surgery, sliding genioplasty surgery, chin augmentation surgery or chin implant surgery are not recommended for patients suffering from one or more of the following:

● Severe microgenia – an extremely small or deformed chin
● Labial incompetence
● Lip protrusion
● Severe protrusion
● Periodontal disease

Preparing for Chin Implant

Patients need to quit smoking at least a month before and after the surgery. Blood thinners, herbal teas and oral supplements are forbidden for at least 2 weeks before the procedure.

How is Chin Implant Performed?

X-rays of the chin and face are taken first, then based on these x-rays the surgeon will decide on which parts of the chin area to modify.

Depending on the desired results, mentoplasty surgery, sliding genioplasty surgery, chin augmentation surgery or chin implant surgery may be performed.

Anaesthesia for these procedures can be:
● Local anaesthesia
● General anaesthesia

Incisions can be created in one of the following places:
● Inside, in the mouth
● Outside, right under the chin

If the patient requires a chin implant, the surgeon will create a small pocket in front of the chin bone but under the muscle – the chin implant will be placed here.

Different types of implants may be used:
● Bone grafted from the patient
● Fat tissue
● Silicone implant
● Biological inserts

An artificial chin implant is the preferred choice as it has a lower risk of developing complications such as infections.

The surgeon may also create cuts into the jaw bone or remove and reposition the chin bone for a better effect.

Turkey

Turkey is a treasure trove of traditions, spices, street food delights and destinations for any intrepid tourist. It’s a mix between the familiar and the exotic, ranging from the bustling streets of Istanbul to the serene and relaxed Roman ruins spread around Turkey’s Western and Southern coast. Turkey is a fairly large country with 75 million inhabitants. The country spreads between Europe and Asia, with 97% of the country on the Asian side – Asian Turkey. Turkey is encircled and enjoys access to three different seas: The Black Sea, The Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean. Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey and the largest city in Europe, regarding population – It has over 14 million people.

Healthcare

Turkey’s medical infrastructure has improved greatly beginning with the early 2000s and now is one of the biggest medical tourism hubs in Europe and Asia. Turkey has the largest number of JCI-accredited hospitals, second only to the USA and hospitals are more often than not part of international healthcare groups, following strict European protocols and regulations. Turkey has 28.000 medical institutions spread across the European and Asian side but some of the biggest private hospitals and medical centres are in Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya and Bodrum – these also happen to be some of the best tourist destinations in Turkey.

Sights to See

Bodrum is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Turkey, with its sandy beaches and small streets littered with traditional shops and elegant restaurants. The town used to be called Halicarnassus, and the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus is one of the World’s Seven Ancient Wonders. Bodrum also features a castle built by the crusaders in the 15th century.

Istanbul is the home of several architectural treasures, including the Blue Mosque. The Blue Mosque was built on the orders of Sultan Ahmed between 1609 and 1616 and the Sultan’s body still resides within the mosque. The high ceiling is lined with more than 20000 handmade ceramic tiles, hence the name – The Blue Mosque.

Pamukkale, meaning “The Cotton Castle” in Turkish is a surreal destination in the country’s western region of Denizli, world renowned for its white terraces with warm spring water. The ancient Greek city of Hierapolis was built over the springs and Pamukkale was a renowned destination in antiquity as well. Tourists can visit the ancient Roman and Greek ruins of the baths, temples and theatres dating to the second century BC.
