Breast reduction, also known as reduction mammaplasty, is a cosmetic surgery procedure to remove excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin to reach a breast size in proportion along with the body and to eliminate the discomfort related with exceedingly large breasts (macromastia) according to the breast size chart.
Reasons for breast reduction surgery vary from person to person, but generally, women want to reduce the size of their breasts for the following reasons:
• Physical reasons – Extremely large breasts can make normal activities or sports difficult and tiring
• Aesthetic reasons – Some patients can feel self-conscious about the size of their bust, compared to the rest of their body
• Psychological reasons – Some women might feel that a bigger bust simply does not represent them
According to the latest data released by The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), more than 75.000 breast reduction procedures are performed in 2017 in the USA alone.
While the risks of a breast reduction surgery are minimal, some women may suffer from decrease or loss of sensation in the nipples or breasts, asymmetrical results, scars, allergic reactions to anesthesia, surgical tape, or drugs used during the procedure and long recovery time.
Aware of these risks, if you decide to undergo this procedure, your first step should be to search well to find a skilled surgeon and clinic providing successful results with an affordable breast reduction surgery cost.
In this article, we are presenting a list of celebrity with breast reduction for you to take a look at those famous women who decided to reduce breast size. While most celebrities are known for their breast augmentation or breast lift procedures, some decided to turn the tables and go the other way. Here are a few of them.
Ariel Winter is one of the biggest stars in Modern Family. She’s also one of our top celebrity breast reduction patients! As it turns out, she had the procedure when she was just 17!
Ariel explains her choice: “I remember being in my sister’s wedding and being so flat and thinking, ‘I just wish I would grow boobs!’ and then overnight I did. But then they kept growing and growing and growing, and it didn’t seem like they were going to stop,” she said. “I was 15 years old with [size] F [breasts]. It’s like, ‘How do you navigate that?’”
Jennifer Connelly’s generous bust has been the talk of the town for some while now. Some believe that her generous bust was natural while some speculated that she might have gotten breast implants when she was younger. In either case, Jennifer’s bust is much smaller nowadays. Is she a celebrity breast reduction patient or did she have her implants removed? We may never know!
Drew Barrymore is one of Hollywood’s sweetest actresses, but is she on our list of celebrities who have had a breast reduction? Yes! As her before and after pictures may show us this change, Drew Barrymore had breast reduction surgery back in 1992. She told the New York Daily News in 1998, “I really love my body and the way it is right now. There’s something very awkward about women and their breasts because men look at them so much. When they’re huge, you become very self-conscious. Your back hurts. You find that whatever you wear, you look heavy in. It’s uncomfortable.”
Soleil Moon Frye
Soleil Moon Frye had her reduction mammoplasty when she was 16. Before the surgery, she was the victim of teasing and taunting due to her unusually large breasts. Soleil, who suffered from a medical condition termed gigantomastia (literally, giant breasts), decided to undergo a breast reduction surgery, a procedure performed on 2,500 teenage girls each year.
American singer, rapper, television producer and model, Queen Latifah also decided to reduce her breast size due to having pain while working out. She had to do her exercises to lose weight, but her large breasts were too big to manage while doing it. She had the procedure in 2003 and reduced her breasts from F cup to a DD.
Comedian Janeane Garofalo also had the surgery in her twenties because she felt too disproportioned. Janeane explains her choice: “I was a 36C or D, and at 5’1, I knew that being a small person with big boobs standing in front of an audience was not going to be easy… I went down to a B cup, and it was the best thing in the whole world.”
