Tip Plasty Alternative Treatments

How Does It Work?

By performing tip plasty the cosmetic surgeon can:

  • Reduce a broad or large nose tip
  • Reduce the projection of the nasal tip
  • Refine the tip of the nose
  • Correct a deviation of the nasal septum
  • Straighten a drooping nose tip

What Does Tip Plasty Treatment Involve?

1.    Consultation for Tip Plasty

The first step to start your tip plasty process will be the online consultation. At this stage, our specialists will ask you some questions to define your problem and your medical needs. The main target of this stage is to make sure whether you are a good candidate for tip plasty surgery or not.

For example, you may need a full rhinoplasty instead of tip plasty according to your complaints and symptoms. At this stage, your health history, medications you use, allergies you have, your previous surgeries, your nose images and your expectations about the process are the most important data to generate the most appropriate treatment plan for you.

2.    Planning Your Trip and Choosing the Clinic

Once it has been decided that you are a suitable candidate for the tip plasty procedure, we work on making the best treatment plan for you. We will share the results of the clinics and surgeons; which we created according to the criteria we receive from you. After you make a selection, we proceed to the stage of detailed adjustments.

3.    Final Consultation with Your Surgeon

When you arrive at the clinic, you will have a face-to-face consultation with your Tip Plasty surgeon. This first consultation will focus on your psychological motivations. This interrogation will be followed by a precise clinical examination.

The anatomical structures of the nose, the importance of the shape of the tip of the nose, of its projection are analyzed by the surgeon to properly define the operative indication. It is then necessary to assess the concordance of your request with the clinical examination, then the consistency of your request with the surgical techniques available.

Your surgeon then looks for local elements unfavorable to this surgery, in particular thick skin of poor quality, a general medical history, harmful habits like smoking, cardiovascular pathologies, or other pathologies which could contraindicate nose surgery.

Your clinic will explain everything you need to know about your treatment process and try to simulate the results as much as possible, to feel enlightened and ready.

4.    Medical Examinations

Before the tip plasty process begins, your surgeon will conduct some necessary medical tests to make sure that you are in acceptable health status for the procedure.

Every patient is required to undergo medical tests and preliminary examinations to ensure that nothing can hinder the success of the surgery and if any risks is detected at this pre-operative stage, surgeons try to eliminate them first.

5.    Surgery

The tip plasty operation takes place in the operating room under general anesthesia.

Tip plasty is generally included reducing the tip of the nose and it is a very common surgical procedure because it is often necessary to harmonize the tip of the nose with the rest of the nose.

To reduce the nose tip, there are several surgical techniques:

  • First, surgeons reduce the upper part of the wing cartilages that make up the cartilages of the tip of the nose.
  • Then they remove excess cartilage.
  • Then they refine and degrease the thick skin of the tip of the nose.

Requests for nasal tip augmentation are also very specific and more specialized for nose tip for ethnic rhinoplasties. African and Asian patients have another aesthetic conception of the nose. They have a less projected nasal pyramid and less developed nasal tip cartilages than Caucasian patients.

The tip plasty for nasal tip augmentation thus consists in grafting cartilages on the nasal point in order to increase the projection of it correcting a falling point.

Things You Should Consider After Tip Plasty Treatment

  • Nasal tip rhinoplasty has a faster healing process than a full rhinoplasty.
  • No nasal splint or hospital admission is necessary.
  • Thinner skins have a faster healing process than those with thick skin.
  • Breathing could be complicated during the first days due to inflammation.
  • You should keep your head high as much as possible. If an open technique is applied, the stitches on the skin will be taken after a week. If the surgery is done with a closed technique, it is not necessary to remove the sutures as they are absorbable. The dressings on the nose will be removed in about 10 days.
  • Presence of edema of the tip of the nose can last several months especially when the skin is thick.
  •  Insensitivity of the tip of the nose can last about 3 months.
  • You should inform your surgeon if you experience these conditions while you are in recovery period: Breathing discomfort for 7-10 days, Moderate pain, Bruising around the eyes for 15 days, Abnormal bleeding
  • Although the nose is still swollen, it is not noticeable from the outside. Three weeks after the nasal procedure, 20 to 30% of the swelling will decrease. Six weeks after the procedure, 50 to 60% of the swelling will decrease. It can take an average year for any swelling to go away. In some patients, 90% of the swelling of the nasal tip decreases within three months of the procedure. The patient can start driving 5-6 days after the operation. Walking and jogging 3-4 weeks after and after 5-6 months can participate in sports such as tennis, football and basketball.

Is Tip Plasty Procedure Painful?

Post-operative pain may be experienced especially first few days after the procedure. Your surgeon will prescribe medications that will relieve your pain during the recovery period.

What Are the Surgical Techniques of Tip Plasty?

Open tip plasty: The open technique allows you to modify the tip of the nose more precisely and more significantly. This advanced rhinoplasty technique is reserved for difficult cases when the tip of the nose is very wide or drooping. This open technique also increases the projection of the nose during ethnic rhinoplasty.

Closed tip plasty: This technique makes it possible to reduce the upper edge of the cartilage tip plasty of the nose (wing cartilages) and thus to refine the tip of the nose. This technique also improves the support of the tip of the nose by adding a cartilage graft. Surgeons generally reserve this technique for simple cases.

Ana was extremely helpful, friendly and made planning my trip so much easier. I don't know what I would have done without her! Going overseas to a country you've never been to before to get plastic surgery can be scary, having Ana made it a lot less scary knowing you have somebody there that's on your team to help you.
