How we verify doctors

Every doctor listed on Flymedi is checked as an individual, not as part of a clinic. This page explains what we check, what the green verification tick means, and what it does not mean. It also sets out how the FlymediScore is calculated and how clinics are ordered in a listing, because those are three separate things and only the first is a check on a doctor.

The five checks

All five must pass before a doctor appears on the site. A failure at any step stops the listing, and we tell the clinic why.

    Identity

    We confirm the doctor's full legal name and photograph against government-issued identification supplied by the clinic. Nicknames and trading names are not accepted on a profile.

    Licence to practise

    The medical licence number is checked directly against the issuing authority's register. We record the check date, and a licence that cannot be found in the register is a hard stop.

  3. 3

    Specialty qualification

    Medical school, residency and any board certification are confirmed with the awarding institution. A doctor is listed only for the specialty they actually hold.

    Where they operate

    We confirm the hospital or clinic where the doctor holds operating privileges, and that the facility itself holds a current operating licence. The profile names that facility so you know where you would actually be treated.

    Standing and complaints

    We check for disciplinary findings in the public register and review any complaint raised by a Flymedi patient. Unresolved patient complaints suspend a profile while we look into them.

✔ What the verification tick means

  • This person is a real, currently licensed doctor
  • They hold the specialty shown on the profile
  • They have operating privileges at the named facility
  • No disciplinary finding was on the public register at the check date
  • The check was repeated within the current cycle

What it does not mean

  • It is not a guarantee of your surgical outcome
  • It is not a ranking: verification is pass or fail, the FlymediScore is separate
  • It does not confirm who will operate on you, your written offer does that
  • It is not a substitute for your own consultation and second opinion

If a clinic tries to substitute a different surgeon after you booked, tell your coordinator. That is grounds for removal from Flymedi.

What you see on a doctor profile

The verification line on every profile states the registry we checked and the month we checked it.

Trustpilot, the FlymediScore and clinic review counts are three separate systems. Verification is a fourth thing again: it is a pass or fail check on the individual, and it never feeds a score.

Verification questions

Can a clinic pay to have a doctor verified?
No. Verification is a pass or fail check and there is no fee attached to it. It is also not a ranking factor, so there would be nothing to buy.
What happens if a doctor's licence lapses?
The profile is suspended at the next check, or immediately if a patient or the registry flags it. Suspended profiles do not appear in listings.
How do I know who will actually operate on me?
Your written offer names the operating surgeon. Ask for it in writing before you pay a deposit, and tell your coordinator if a clinic will not give it.
Who can I tell if something looks wrong on a profile?
Your coordinator, or the editorial team via the authors and reviewers page. We log every report with a date and act on it.
