All-on-4 is a dental implant concept that uses fewer implants in the upper or lower jaw than traditional methods. This procedure can also avoid the need for bone grafting procedures. On average, with traditional implants, the upper jaw would require between 6 to 8 implants, while the all-on-4 requires only 4 implants. With the all-on-4 technique, the posterior implants are inserted at an angle of 30 to 45 degrees rather than vertically. With this new method, patients who suffer from bone loss may sometimes be eligible for the procedure without the need for a bone graft.
All-on-4 dental implants are recommended for patients with a large number of missing teeth due to trauma, tooth decay or other reasons. Patients suffering from bone loss, which are unable to opt for traditional, vertical dental implants can also benefit for this procedure.
