Thread lift in Turkey

A thread lift places dissolvable barbed sutures under the skin and draws sagging tissue upward. It is done with local anaesthetic, takes under an hour, and you walk out the same day.

It is also temporary and modest. The threads dissolve over months and the lift goes with them, usually within a year or two. If your skin has genuinely descended, a thread lift will disappoint you and a surgical lift will not. This page is about telling those two situations apart.

What a thread lift can and cannot do

  • It lifts a little, not a lot

    Expect a subtle repositioning of the cheek, jawline or brow. It does not remove skin, so it cannot produce the change a facelift produces.

  • It is temporary by design

    The threads are absorbable. Most results are described in terms of a year or two, after which the tissue returns to where it was.

  • It stimulates collagen

    The threads provoke a healing response that adds some firmness beyond the mechanical lift. This is real but gradual and easily oversold.

  • It suits early laxity only

    It suits mild sagging and reasonable skin quality. Heavy jowls and loose neck skin are beyond what threads can hold.

Thread lift or facelift

This is the decision that matters, and cost is the wrong way to make it. A thread lift repositions tissue with sutures and leaves the excess skin in place. A facelift removes skin and repositions the deeper layer, lasts years rather than months, and requires real surgery and real recovery. Choosing threads because they are cheaper, when what you have is established sagging, usually means paying twice. Who it suits

  • Mild early laxity. A cheek that has started to drop, a softening jawline, a brow that sits slightly low. Small changes are what threads do well.
  • Good skin quality. Threads pull on skin. Thin, sun-damaged or very lax skin holds them poorly and can show puckering.
  • People who cannot take downtime. The genuine advantage. No general anaesthetic, no hospital stay, and back to normal life quickly.
  • Not for heavy sagging. If a surgeon says threads will fix significant jowls, ask what they expect at a year. That is the question that separates a realistic plan from a sale.

What the procedure involves

  1. Assessment and marking

    The direction of lift is planned and marked with you sitting upright, because tissue falls differently lying down.

  2. Local anaesthetic

    Injected along the planned thread paths. You are awake throughout.

  3. Thread insertion

    A needle or cannula passes the barbed thread through the tissue along the marked line. No incision is made beyond the entry point.

  4. Tensioning

    The thread is drawn up so the barbs grip the tissue, and the lift is set. This is where symmetry is judged and adjusted.

  5. Trimming and discharge

    The ends are cut below the skin. You leave the same day with instructions about sleeping position and facial movement.

Recovery

  • The first days. Swelling, bruising and a tight, pulled sensation. Sleeping on your back with the head raised is usually advised.
  • The first weeks. Avoid wide mouth opening, dental work, facial massage and sleeping face down. Threads need time to anchor.
  • Dimpling settles, usually. Small puckers at the entry points commonly smooth out over weeks. Ones that persist need reviewing.
  • The result peaks then fades. Peak appearance in the first months, gradual return as the threads absorb. Plan for that rather than being surprised by it.

What drives the price in Turkey

  • How many threads. Priced per thread or per area. A jawline needs more than a brow, and a quote without a thread count is not a quote.
  • Thread type. Different absorbable materials behave differently and are priced differently. Ask which is being used and how long it is expected to last.
  • Who performs it. A plastic surgeon or dermatologist, and whether the same person handles any correction.
  • Whether anything is combined. Threads are often sold alongside other treatments, which makes comparing quotes harder. Ask for the thread lift priced on its own.

Choosing a practitioner

  • Ask for results at a year, not at a week. Any thread lift looks good the week after. The honest question is what remains twelve months later.
  • Ask how many they place and of what type. Specific numbers and a named material, not a brand promise.
  • Ask whether they also perform facelifts. Someone who offers both has less reason to sell you the wrong one.
  • Ask what happens if it does not hold. And get the answer before you travel, not after.
