Long waiting times in UK…

Because of long waiting times in UK hospitals due to Covid19, I hit upon the idea of having my bilateral hernia surgery done while on a 2-week holiday in Antalya. After making inquiries through Yasmin, I had a short but comprehensive consultation with an eminent surgeon Prof Alihan Gürkan and my operation was scheduled for a day halfway through my stay in Antalya. It went well with keyhole surgery, I stayed in overnight and was discharged the next day, which gave me 6 days to recover before my flight home to Scotland. Yasmin kept in touch throughout, making sure I had transport to and from the hospital, and a special thanks to Fatma, my mentor and guide at the Memorial Hospital on my day of tests and examinations. I telephoned my surgeon a few days after the operation for advice on removing my plasters and he was most helpful and reassuring about my complete recovery. I was not too fond of the breakfast, but considered it as another form of medicine! My flight home was amazingly comfortable without painkillers, although they were definitely needed for a few days after my operation. In conclusion, I would be happy to have other treatment like this, though in a nice sort of way I hope never to set eyes on the Memorial Hospital again. 🙂

A very positive outcome

A very positive outcome, following my decision to pursue in having dental cosmetic surgery/treatment carried out in Turkey. Excellent advisory skills by Flymedi rep Abud. He was professional, well informed, and followed me up with total attention throughout the whole process. Last but not least, I thank Dr Ahmed Kumsan and his team at Infinity Smiles Dental Clinic for their commitment and professionalism. Highly recommended.

Thank you Flymedi

I was considering several different options, however Abud was by far the most committed and helpful of all the agents I'd been in discussions with. Everything was organised for me and I was guided throughout and if I was feeling apprehensive about anything or had any questions Abud was always on hand to answer my questions and give reassurances. I'm so happy with the results of my operation and I was left overwhelmed by how friendly and supportive everyone was throughout. If you're considering using flymedi then I can honestly say you'll be delighted with the service both before during and after your surgery.

Recommended For Cheek Implants

Cheek implants surgery, also known as cheek augmentation, is recommended for any individuals dissatisfied with the look or shape of their cheeks. Individuals with flat cheeks, with traumatic facial injuries or birth defects usually prefer this surgery.

Not Recommended For Cheek Implants

Cheek augmentation is not recommended for patients with unusual round faces. Patients with very little soft tissue in the cheek should not have this procedure, as implants may become apparent. Persons suffering from any type of infection in the body, especially in the mouth and sinus, should wait before undergoing cheek implants surgery. Certain patients with serious underlying health conditions such as diabetes or heart problems may not be good candidates for cheek augmentation surgery.

Overview

Cheek implants surgery, also known as cheek augmentation, is a plastic surgery procedure used to make fuller, change or enhance a person’s cheeks in order to provide harmony in the facial proportions.

Cheek augmentation or cheek implants techniques include:
● Cheek implants – the plastic surgeon uses solid silicone implants in this procedure to enhance the patient’s face
● Dermal fillers, also known as cheek fillers – the surgeon can also use dermal fillers, a material based on hyaluronic acid, to gradually improve the appearance of the patient’s cheeks
● Autologous fat transfer for cheek augmentation – in this particular procedure, surgeons can inject the patient's fat into the cheeks
● Cheek augmentation through osteotomy – surgeons can change the zygomatic bone of the cheek, commonly known as the cheekbone in order to achieve the desired effect.

There are three different types of cheek implants:
● Malar – This is the most common type of cheek implant used in this field. These implants are placed directly on the cheekbone and provide a more pleasing contour in the cheek area.
● Submalar – Submalar cheek implants usually used to enhance the appearance of the midface.
● Combined – As the name suggests, these implants can enhance the cheekbones as well as the midface.

Cheek implants surgery is a safe procedure and can be combined with a facelift procedure, neck lift, rhinoplasty but the most common choice is chin implant surgery.Cheek implants surgery is also an increasingly popular surgical procedure, and abroad options are often preferred considering the price advantage. For example, in the countries well-experienced in the field of medical tourism such as Turkey, patients can find more affordable check implants surgery options compared to the US or most European countries.

Preparation

Patients need to avoid blood thinners such as aspirin, oral herbal supplements, alcohol, and smoking for at least 2 weeks before the cheek implants surgery.Patients may be advised to take a particular medication or change the dose of an existing medication while preparing the surgery.

How It Is Performed

Cheek implants surgery is done under sedation or general anesthesia. Once the anesthesia applies, the cheek implants surgeon creates the incision to insert the implants. If the procedure is combined with eyelid lift surgery, brow lift, facelift or rhinoplasty, the implants can also be inserted through the incisions already made for these procedures.

If the cheek implants procedure is performed stand-alone, incisions can be created either through the lower eyelids or in the mouth, according to the surgeon’s decision. The surgeon will then create “pockets” in the cheek tissue and proceed to place the implants carefully. Once the desired position is achieved, stitches are set to close the incision site.

As an alternative treatment, dermal fillers can be used instead of implants. The dermal fillers allow the surgeon to gradually enhance the cheek area until the desired result is achieved. It’s important to note that dermal fillers are not a permanent solution and another intervention will be necessary in around 6 to 12 months after the initial surgery.

Recovery

The cheek implants recovery period lasts around 3 weeks. Most patients return to work in around a week after the procedure. A facial compression garment will be advised and provided to patients in order to speed up the healing process, it needs to be worn for 3 days after the cheek implants surgery.
