A facelift, or rhytidectomy, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that aims to gain a more youthful appearance on the face by removing excess facial skin and reshaping the remaining tissues. It reshapes the lower half of the face. A facelift can tighten loose, hanging skin around the jawline and improve the face contour.
Healthy individuals who have loose neck skin, a loss of jawline contour, or droopy cheeks
Individuals whose skin has elasticity and whose bone structure is well defined
Facelift surgery duration lasts between 2-4 hours.

Facelift surgery has a success rate of 90-95%.
When you get older, your collagen levels are decreasing, and because of this change, your face is getting wrinkles and it’s gagging. A facelift will give you a more awake and youthful appearance by removing the sagging skin around the eyes, mouth, and jawline.
For your online consultation, we will kindly ask you to send your photos as shown in the Photography Guide down below, so we can evaluate your case.
Although it depends on the complexity of the surgery, it normally takes up to 4 hours to complete a facelift surgery. Once you have decided to have the surgery, you have to rest assured that each and every facelift procedure is customized so as to match the patient’s needs, and preferences, and match you with the best facelift surgeon available in Turkey.
When you arrive at the clinic, you will have a face-to-face consultation with your facelift specialist surgeon. During this session you are expected to inform the surgeon about your medical record, allergies, and if you’re currently taking any medication.
Even after telling your surgeon about your medical record, it’s mandatory that you go through some medical tests. Afterward, you will discuss the procedure in detail. If you are on the same page with your surgeon, he/she will make an illustration by drawing some marks on your face as he/she prepares you for the surgery.
When the test results are out and your surgeon is satisfied, you will be then given anesthesia. Surgeons usually prefer general anesthesia, but if you’re having a mini-facelift, you will be given local anesthesia or sedation.
When the anesthesia has kicked in, your surgeon will make incisions on the hairline near the temples. The incisions can also be done on the front of your ears, down in front of and hugging the earlobes, and on the lower scalp behind the ears.
When your surgeon is done with incision-making, unwanted face and excess skin will be removed from your face. The face contours are reshaped by tightening the underlying muscles and connective tissues.
If you are having a mini-facelift, the incisions will be smaller. In the event that the facelift is being performed in conjunction with a neck lift, your neck skin will also be tightened by pulling it up and back –this is usually done through an incision made under the chin.
When the procedure is done, your surgeon will close the incisions using dissolvable sutures or skin glue. Finally, you will have surgical drainage tubes, and your face will be bandaged.
You should use a thin towel around an ice bag and place it over the surgical sites. If you can do this as much as possible for the first 3 days after the surgery, you can control swelling and it will make you comfortable.
You may take a shower the day after your surgery, however, you should be very gentle when washing and drying the face.
You should avoid lifting heavy things for one week following your surgery. This may raise blood pressure and can cause bleeding.
You should arrange for someone to stay with you for at least the first 24 hours after surgery.
You should rest with your head elevated well for at least the first week after surgery.
If you feel any sort of discomfort, you can take the prescribed pain medications.
You should restrict your activities for several days after the surgery. It is recommended to rest well for 7 to 10 days before resuming physical activity.
You should resume not smoking for at least 2 weeks after surgery as smoking delays healing and increases the risk of complications.
Protect your face, head, and neck from any pressure or impact.
You should avoid excessive sun exposure on your face for one month.
After all, stitches have been removed or resolved, postoperative scars will appear a pink color. There will also be some swelling in and around the scars. Within time, the pink color will change to white, the firmness of the scar will soften, and they will become less noticeable.
A week before the procedure, you should stop taking Aspirin and any other meds associated with blood thinning.
If you are allergic to any drugs, you should inform your surgeon as soon as possible.
Patients are advised to avoid smoking 24 hours before the surgery.
Consuming any alcoholic beverages can affect anesthesia. So you should not take in anything alcoholic 24 hours prior to surgery.
If you are taking meds for chronic or acute diseases such as diabetes and heart disease, you should inform your surgeon before the surgery commences.
