The procedure is not recommended for individuals suffering from severe health conditions already being treated such as cancer, lung disease, or heart disease. Patients suffering from morbid obesity are also not good candidates for a neck liposuction procedure. Other symptoms include the following:

  • Connective tissue disorders
  • Large stretch marks
  • Severe cardiovascular disease
  • Endocrine disorders
  • Hypertension
  • Excessive drinking or drug use
  • Any infection in the neck area
  • Severe coagulation disorders

Pregnant women may not be good candidates for liposuction – it’s best to wait until after the pregnancy and breastfeeding.

How Long Should You Stay in The Hospital After The Surgery?

You may spend one night in the hospital after the procedure to monitor your status.

How Long is The Surgery?

The procedure normally takes 1 to 4 hours.

How To Prepare For Neck Liposuction Abroad?

Patients should be in good health before undergoing a neck liposuction procedure. If the patient suffers from an active infection in the neck region, it’s better to wait for its treatment to be finished first before having neck liposuction. Patients are also required to be at a stable weight, within 20% of their ideal or normal body weight.

How is The Procedure Performed?

The liposuction surgeon needs to know about any medications including anti-depressants the patient may have been taking. Blood thinners such as aspirin, omega 3 capsules, anti-inflammatory medicines, and herbal teas are prohibited at least 2 weeks before the neck liposuction procedure.

Smoking is also not allowed during this period, as it can have a serious negative effect on the process of surgery and also healing.

The neck liposuction procedure is done under general anesthesia. Sometimes it can be performed under local anesthesia, as well. Once the anesthesia kicks in, surgeons insert a small liposuction cannula through 1 or 2 tiny incisions, concealed beneath the chin or behind the ears for removing excess fat on the neck and sculpting the chin and neck.

There are several techniques that can be used to improve the appearance of the neck and contour of this region, including:

  • Laser-assisted liposuction
  • Power-assisted liposuction
  • Ultrasound-assisted liposuction
  • Micro neck liposuction

Once the desired result is achieved, the incisions are closed with dissolving stitches, and the area is wrapped in bandages. Finally, the patient can begin the neck liposuction recovery period which takes around 1-2 weeks.

Neck Liposuction Recovery

Since the neck liposuction procedure is minimally invasive, patients can usually return to work in less than a week. A special type of compression garment needs to be worn for a few days after the neck liposuction procedure.

Patients can experience some degree of pain and discomfort, but prescribed painkillers can easily handle it. Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption are prohibited for at least 2 weeks after the procedure.

Neck Liposuction Complications

Although neck liposuction is not a dangerous operation, it has still some risks and complications such as:

  • Allergic reaction to anesthesia
  • Infection
  • Bleeding
  • Excess skin tissue in the neck area
  • Damage to surrounding tissues

Neck liposuction is a safe and popular procedure, but as in any surgical procedure, it has its side effects as well:

  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Discomfort
  • Pain
  • Temporary numbness
  • Nausea
  • Delayed healing

Neck Liposuction Success Rate

Neck liposuction reviews set the average success rate at around 90%.

Patients will notice the liposuction results in about a week when most of the swelling will go down. Neck liposuction results can last up to 10 years but it’s up to the patient to maintain a stable weight and a healthy lifestyle.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

When Can I Resume Sports After A Neck Liposuction Procedure?

Patients can turn back their sportive activities or regular exercises after the incisions are fully healed, in around 2 weeks.

Are There Any Visible Scars?

Scarring is minimal with the neck liposuction procedure because a few incisions are created around the neck and they are also small.

Is Neck Liposuction Permanent?

The fat cells are removed permanently during liposuction, but if you gain lots of weight, new fat cells may again accumulate in different areas of your body, for example, in your neck. In order to keep the new enhanced shape after surgery, follow a proper diet and exercise regularly.
