MIS dental implants in Turkey

MIS is an implant manufacturer, founded in Israel and now part of a large dental group, whose titanium implants are among the most widely placed in Turkish clinics. It sits in the middle of the market: below the premium Swiss and Swedish brands in price, above unbranded implants in documentation, with published survival data, a range of conical and internal-hex connections, and parts that dentists outside Turkey can obtain. When a Turkish clinic quotes an MIS implant, it is quoting a known product, and that is the point of asking which brand you are getting.

The honest position is that the brand is not what decides whether an implant lasts. The bone it is placed in, the planning, the surgeon's technique, the quality of the crown on top and the hygiene afterwards decide far more. What a brand gives you is documentation, warranty and serviceability: an implant your own dentist can identify, order parts for and repair years later. That is worth paying for, and it is exactly what an unnamed implant in a cheap package does not give you.

Bone quantity and quality, planned from a three-dimensional scan, decide where the implant can go and whether grafting is needed. Surgical technique decides whether the implant is placed in the right position without overheating the bone. The crown and abutment decide whether forces are distributed properly and whether food and plaque are trapped. And the patient decides the rest: smoking, uncontrolled diabetes and poor hygiene lose implants of every brand.

This is why a brand name on a quote tells you something but not everything. Ask who plans, who places, how many implants they place a year, what the crown is made of and by which laboratory, and what the follow-up is. A named brand in the wrong hands is a named failure.

• Failure to integrate. The implant does not bond to bone and is removed; likelier with poor bone, smoking and overheating during placement.
• Peri-implantitis. Infection of the bone around the implant, the main cause of late loss, driven by hygiene and design. Regular maintenance at home prevents most of it.
• Nerve or sinus injury. Numbness of the lip or chin, or an implant into the sinus, from planning or placement errors. A three-dimensional scan is the safeguard.
• Mechanical problems. Loose or fractured screws, chipped crowns, fractured abutments. Serviceable only if the parts can be identified and obtained.
• Wrong or substituted parts. A different implant than quoted, or a branded implant with unbranded components. The packaging sticker in your file is the proof.
• Rushed treatment. Compressing healing to fit a trip raises failure. Immediate loading is for selected cases, not for convenience.
• No follow-up at home. Implants need maintenance for life; arrange a dentist willing to take on implants placed abroad before you go.

• Ask for the brand and line in writing. MIS and which line, or whichever brand is quoted; a clinic that will not name it is not quoting a product.
• Ask for the passport and sticker. Brand, model, size, lot number, and the packaging sticker in your file before you fly.
• Ask who plans and who places. An oral surgeon or implantologist, with a three-dimensional scan, not a scan-free same-day plan.
• Ask about the crown. Material, laboratory, and whether the abutment is the brand's own or a copy.
• Ask about warranty and how it is claimed. Through which dealer, in which country, and what is excluded.
• Arrange home maintenance first. A dentist who will see you for check-ups and can order the brand's parts.
