And they can start shaving eight days after the procedure. With a beard transplant day by day, you will see minor improvement.
Beard transplant surgery has a success rate of 90-95%.
Surgeons will mostly likely use the FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) technique with local anesthesia, just as they do when performing a hair transplant. The surgeon will harvest hair follicles from the donor area and then implant them into a patchy beard area. If you don’t have sufficient hair in your donor area, the surgeon can also take follicles from other areas such as your chest.
For your online consultation, we will kindly ask you to send your photos as shown in the Photography Guide down below, so we can evaluate your case.
Each and every beard transplant procedure is customized according to every patient’s needs, and preferences, and matches you with the best beard transplant in Turkey. To help you better understand, here is the beard transplant step-by-step guide:
First things first, an online consultation (between you and a Beard Transplant specialist) will be scheduled –this is done in order to make sure that you’re a suitable candidate for beard transplant surgery.
You will be asked to send some pictures of your face and head (from the front, left, and right sides of the face, under the chin, and back of the head). After a Hair Transplant specialist reviews your pictures, you will be told the approximate number of grafts that you need. During the online consultations, expect the following questions:
Have you ever had a beard transplant before?
Do you have any medical conditions that we should be aware of?
Are you currently taking any medication?
What do you expect from beard transplant surgery?
When you decide to have a beard transplant, our first step will be to present to you several detailed options of clinics and doctors. After you have chosen your preferred clinic and doctor, we will then set up an operation date and arrange your trip. All the dates are set according to your preferences!
We recommend that you arrive in Turkey a day before the surgery so that you can have enough time to rest.
When you arrive at the clinic, you will have a face-to-face consultation with your beard transplant surgeon. Part of the discussions will be about your expectations and goals. After this, the surgeon will make an illustration of what to expect by drawing marks on your new beard transplant.
Before the surgery commences, your surgeon will examine your overall health state by making different tests such as physical and blood tests. When the test results are known, your final surgery preparation will begin.
As part of your final surgery preparations, your surgeon will give you local anesthesia. This is done so that you don’t feel any sort of pain or discomfort during the procedure. If your surgeon decides to use the FUE technique, the donor area will be shaved down.
Suppose you have Trypanophobia (fear of needles), you will have to let us know during the first consultation so that we get you a doctor who can make anesthesia without using needles.
Once the anesthesia kicks in, the surgery will commence. Your surgeon will extract hair follicles one by one using microblade and micro punches. All extracted hair follicles will be stored in a container that has a special solution that keeps the grafts alive.
Depending on the number of hair follicles to be transplanted, it usually takes between 3 and 8 hours to complete the surgery.
A day after the surgery, you will meet with your surgeon for a post-op review, and it is during this session that the surgeon will give you some guidelines to follow during the recovery period.
In the first 3-4 days after the surgery, treatment marks will still be visible on your beard area. But the good part is that you can start to do your daily routines during this period.
Beard transplant after 1 week, you are advised not to wash your beard area in the first 5 days after the surgery. This also means that you should also avoid the rain.
Expect most of the transplanted hair to shed off during the second and third weeks.
If the procedure is performed using the FUE technique, your surgeon won’t use a surgical suture, but if it’s carried out using the FUT method you can expect the use of absorbable sutures.
It is normal to feel numb or have a tingling sensation in the treated area for several weeks.
You can expect to see some results after 2 or 3 months, but you are advised to start shaving your beard 6 months post-surgery.
A week prior to the surgery, you should stop taking Aspirin or any other blood thinners.
If you are allergic to any drugs, you should inform your surgeon before the surgery begins.
24 hours before the surgery, you should avoid smoking because it might lengthen your recovery period.
Any alcoholic beverages should be avoided 24 hours before the surgery.
If you are taking medication for chronic or acute diseases such as diabetes, or heart disease, you should inform your surgeon as soon as possible.
