Assoc. Prof. Tuğçe Şimşek

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tuğçe Şimşek is an otorhinolaryngology and head and neck surgery specialist whose practice is focused on facial plastic surgery, above all rhinoplasty, septorhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty. She was born in Adana in 1986 and graduated from Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine in 2009.

She completed her residency in otorhinolaryngology and head and neck surgery at Abant İzzet Baysal University Faculty of Medicine in 2015; during her residency, in 2014, she worked as a research assistant at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. After 20 months of compulsory service in Şanlıurfa she joined Amasya University Faculty of Medicine as assistant professor of otorhinolaryngology at Sabuncuoğlu Şerefeddin Training and Research Hospital, from 2016 to 2022. In 2022 the Turkish Interuniversity Board awarded her the title of associate professor.

Her research, indexed on PubMed, centres on nasal surgery and patient-reported outcomes. She is first author of "Assessment of functional and aesthetic outcomes in septorhinoplasty" and "The effect of lidocaine and tramadol in nasal packs on pain after septoplasty", both in European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, and co-author of a randomised study of a 3D-printed nasal splint after rhinoplasty in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She was a contributing author of the Turkish national guideline for allergic rhinitis (2021); her earlier work covered concha bullosa surgery, nasal polyps and post-tonsillectomy pain.

She now practises privately in Şişli, Istanbul. Her surgical work covers rhinoplasty, septoplasty, otoplasty, blepharoplasty, brow lift, chin augmentation, bichectomy and facial fat grafting; her non-surgical work covers Botox, dermal fillers, PRP, mesotherapy and thread lifts. She is a member of the Facial Plastic Surgery Association, an alternate board member of the medical aesthetics association Medikod, and consults in Turkish and English.
