A breast reduction, or reduction mammoplasty, removes excess breast tissue, fat and skin, reshapes the breast and moves the nipple higher, so the chest is lighter and in proportion with the rest of your body. Most people come to it for relief from back, neck and shoulder pain rather than for looks. Having it done abroad opens up experienced breast surgeons and accredited hospitals at a lower total than private surgery at home, and Flymedi helps you compare clinics, surgeons and all-inclusive packages in one place.
Figures are ranges, not promises. Suitability needs an individual assessment by a doctor.
Each clinic sets its own price, so check what the price includes before comparing two of them.

Travelling for a breast reduction is a bigger decision than travelling for most cosmetic surgery, because this is a long operation with drains, a hospital night and a recovery that runs for months. Done properly, with the right surgeon and a clear aftercare plan, it works well. Done on price alone, it goes wrong in predictable ways.
This guide covers who the operation suits, the techniques and the scars each one leaves, what drives the cost, where patients travel, how recovery and flying home actually work, and how to check a clinic before you book. Use it alongside the clinic list above, where you can compare hospitals and get matched to one that fits your case.
Going abroad for a breast reduction widens your choice of surgeon and shortens the wait, and it usually costs less than the same operation privately at home. Those gains are real, but they only hold if you pick the clinic on its standards rather than its price.
A breast reduction suits you if the weight of your breasts causes daily physical problems, your weight has been steady for a while and you are well enough for a general anaesthetic. Cup size on its own does not decide it: what matters is the symptoms and the proportion to your frame.
It is not the right operation if your breasts are still developing, if you are planning a pregnancy soon, or while a mammogram or ultrasound finding is unexplained. Over a certain age your surgeon will want recent breast imaging first. If the volume suits you and only the sagging bothers you, a breast lift may be the better operation, and male breast reduction is a separate procedure for gynecomastia.
A breast reduction is done under general anaesthetic and takes a few hours depending on the technique and how much tissue is removed. The surgeon marks the incisions while you are standing, removes glandular tissue, fat and skin, moves the nipple up on a pedicle that keeps its blood supply, then closes and fits a surgical bra. An overnight stay is normal.
Scars fade over the first year and sit hidden under a bra or swimsuit, but they never disappear completely. Ask to see photographs of scars a year or more after surgery, not just fresh results, and ask which pedicle the surgeon plans to use and why.
There is no single price for a breast reduction, because the total depends on the technique, the time in theatre, the hospital and what the quote actually includes. Turkey generally sits at the lower end and has the most competition, Mexico is convenient for North American patients, and Thailand pairs long-established international hospitals with mid-range pricing. Rather than chase a headline figure, compare what each package covers. You can see current package prices and get a personalised quote through the clinic list above, and our guide to breast reduction in Turkey covers that destination in detail.
The operation is the same wherever it is performed; what changes abroad is who is accountable afterwards and how far away they are. Health services in the UK and elsewhere warn about surgery abroad for good reason, and the warnings are worth reading honestly rather than ignoring, because they describe what goes wrong when the aftercare is not planned.
Recovery is gradual: the first days are rest and discomfort controlled with medication, then normal life comes back in stages. If you travel for the operation, the surgeon decides when you can fly and arranges your checks before you leave.
A handful of countries have built real depth in breast surgery for international patients, each with its own draw. Where you go usually comes down to flight time, budget and which surgeons you can actually shortlist.
Patients also travel to Lithuania, Spain and Colombia. The right choice is the one where you find a qualified surgeon in an accredited hospital you trust, not simply the lowest quote.
Your safety rests on the surgeon and the hospital, so verify both before you pay anything. A few checks tell you most of what you need to know.

I travelled to Istanbul for a breast reduction after dealing with back pain and discomfort for several years. The surgeon at Istanbul Aesthetic Center listened carefully and explained what kind of result would suit my body. The first few days of recovery were a little difficult, but the nurses were very supportive and checked on me regularly. Flymedi organised everything clearly, and I am really happy with how much lighter and more comfortable I feel now 😊

I had my Breast Reduction surgery at BKFL Clinic and I feel like a new person. I struggled with back pain for years, and now it’s almost completely gone. The surgeon was incredibly precise and professional, and the results look very natural. I was nervous about traveling to Thailand at first, but the clinic’s team supported me from start to finish. The costs were much more affordable than in Germany, yet the quality of care was outstanding. Truly grateful for this experience ❤️

I recently underwent multiple procedures at PPSI with Dr. Piyapas Pichaichanarong, and I cannot recommend him or the entire team highly enough. From the moment I met Dr. Piyapas, I felt completely at ease. He was warm, honest, and incredibly thorough. He answered all my questions without sugar-coating anything, which I really appreciated — especially travelling alone for major surgery. What truly blew me away was the extra care he showed — knowing I'd had gastric sleeve surgery and needed extra protein for healing, he personally brought me a banana protein shake every day. That simple gesture meant so much and showed how genuinely he cares for his patients. I had quite an extensive list of procedures done: ✔️ Breast Reduction with Implants ✔️ Vaser Liposuction (Upper & Lower Abdomen, Love Handles, Lower Back) ✔️ Extended Tummy Tuck & Flankplasty (Belt Lipectomy) ✔️ Vaser Liposuction of the Circumferential Thighs (Inner, Outer, and Front Thighs) ✔️ Extended Thigh Lift They were big surgeries, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Even my GP back home was seriously impressed with Dr. Piyapas' work — so much so that he asked for his contact details to refer future patients. Emotionally, the days after surgery were tough — I was extremely emotional and couldn't stop crying, even though I didn't fully understand why. But the nurses and hospital staff were absolutely incredible. Despite the language barrier, I felt cared for, supported, and safe. They showed me so much kindness and respect, and always empowered me to believe I was improving, even on the tough days. Every time I went for my check-ups, the staff were genuinely happy to see my progress and mobility improving. It made me feel seen and celebrated. I also have to give a huge thank you to Restored Beauty Getaways, who organised this for me. From the initial booking to the daily check-ins while I was recovering, they made the entire process so smooth and stress-free. Travelling alone for such a big surgery was daunting, but with their support, I never felt alone. I wouldn’t have had the confidence to do this without them. If you're considering surgery in Thailand, I honestly couldn’t recommend PPSI, Dr. Piyapas, and Restored Beauty Getaways more. Their care, professionalism, and kindness exceeded all expectations. 10/10 — I wouldn’t trust anyone else.
