Arm lift in Turkey

An arm lift, or brachioplasty, removes the loose skin and attached fat from the upper arm and tightens what is left. It is what people look for when the skin under the arm hangs after major weight loss or with age. It leaves a long, permanent scar along the inner arm, and that is the trade to weigh. Flymedi lets you compare accredited hospitals, surgeons and packages in Turkey and see what each price includes.

Arm lift in Turkey

An arm lift, or brachioplasty, removes the loose skin and the fat attached to it from the upper arm and tightens what is left. It is the operation people look for when the skin under the arm hangs after major weight loss or with age, and no amount of training changes it.

This page explains what the operation removes, the scar it leaves and where it sits, how it differs from liposuction alone, what drives the price in Turkey, and how recovery actually runs. The scar is the central trade, and any page that skips over it is not helping you decide.

What a brachioplasty actually does

  • Removes skin, not just fat

The defining feature. Liposuction alone takes fat out but leaves the skin envelope, which then hangs more loosely than before if the skin has lost its elasticity.
  • Tightens the remaining envelope

The arm is reshaped from armpit toward elbow, and the deeper tissue is often supported so the result does not rely on the skin closure alone.
  • Can be combined with liposuction

Common where there is both fat and loose skin. It adds theatre time and should be agreed rather than discovered on the invoice.
  • Leaves a long, visible scar

It runs along the inner arm and it is permanent. This is the honest trade, and it is the reason some people decide against the operation once they understand it.

The scar, and where it will be

Brachioplasty is one of the few cosmetic operations where the scar is the main thing to weigh. A surgeon who does not spend time on this at the consultation is not preparing you.

  • Full brachioplasty. The scar runs from the armpit to the elbow along the inner or back edge of the arm. It is the version needed when the skin excess reaches the elbow.
  • Mini or short-scar brachioplasty. The scar stays in the armpit. It only works where the excess is limited to the upper third of the arm.
  • Extended brachioplasty. The incision continues onto the side of the chest, used after very large weight loss where the loose skin carries on past the armpit.
  • Where it sits matters. Ask your surgeon to mark the planned line and show you where it falls with your arm down and with it raised, because those are different.

Arm lift, liposuction, or neither

  • Firm skin, extra fat. Liposuction alone may be enough and leaves no long scar. This is the better outcome when the skin can still retract.
  • Loose skin, little fat. Skin excision is the only thing that will change it, and that means the scar.
  • Both. Combined liposuction and skin excision, which is the commonest post-weight-loss picture.
  • Loose skin around the whole trunk as well. An upper body lift may be the better operation, with the arm addressed as part of it.

If the loose skin continues past the arms, read the body lift in Turkey page, and the general arm lift page for the procedure outside a Turkey context.

How Is the Arm Lift Procedure Performed

  1. Marking

Done standing with the arm raised, because loose skin sits differently when you lie down. The planned scar line is drawn and should be shown to you before you go to theatre.
  2. Liposuction, if used

Fat is removed first where the arm is both fatty and loose, which makes the skin easier to redrape.
  3. Skin excision and closure

The marked ellipse of skin is removed and the deeper layer is closed under controlled tension, so the scar is not carrying the weight of the arm on its own.
  4. Dressings and garment

A compression sleeve goes on in theatre and stays on for weeks. Drains are sometimes used, depending on how much was removed.

Brachioplasty Recovery Time

  1. The first week

Swelling, tightness and bruising. Arms are kept elevated and heavy lifting is out. Drains, if used, come out in this window.
  2. Weeks two to four

Most people are back to desk work. The sleeve stays on, and the arms feel tight when you reach overhead.
  3. Weeks six to twelve

Return to the gym is staged, with pushing and pulling movements last. Numbness along the inner arm is common and usually improves.
  4. Months three to eighteen

The scar goes through a red, raised phase before it flattens and fades. This is the slowest-maturing scar in body contouring, and it is judged at the end of that period.

Side Effects of Arm Lift Surgery

  • Tightness. Expected, and most noticeable when reaching above the head in the first weeks.
  • Numbness along the inner arm. Very common early. It usually improves over months, but patches can be permanent.
  • Swelling of the forearm and hand. Because drainage from the arm passes through the operated area. It normally settles, and the compression sleeve is part of managing it.
  • Seroma. A fluid collection under the skin, drained in clinic if it appears.
  • Scar widening. The inner arm is under tension with movement, which is why this scar spreads more often than most.

What drives the price in Turkey

  • Full, mini or extended. Three different operations with three different theatre times.
  • Whether liposuction is included. Frequently combined, and a common separate line item.
  • One night or day case. A short-scar procedure may be a day case; a full brachioplasty after major weight loss usually is not.
  • Compression garments. Worn for weeks, often more than one needed, and not always in the quoted price.
  • Scar revision policy. Ask in writing whether a later revision is included and who pays for travel.

The clinic list on this page shows the current price for each hospital with a label saying what it covers. On staged payment, see payment plans.

Who it suits, and who should wait

  • Your weight has been stable for months. Operating during ongoing weight loss leaves skin that loosens again.
  • You accept the scar. This is the single most important conversation. If the scar is not acceptable to you, the operation is not right for you.
  • You do not smoke. Smoking is the biggest avoidable cause of wound breakdown along a long closure.
  • You have had lymph nodes removed or radiotherapy to the armpit. Tell the surgeon. It changes the risk of arm swelling and may change the plan.

How to Prepare

  • Send photographs with arms raised and lowered. Both positions, taken from front and back, because they show different things.
  • Buy or arrange the compression sleeves in advance. You will need them from day one and usually more than one set.
  • Plan not to lift anything for weeks. Including luggage. Arrange help for the journey home.
  • Stop smoking well before. Weeks, not days.
  • Book a changeable return. Flying is usually fine once the wound is checked, but swelling or a seroma can delay it.

Arm Lift Surgery Results

The contour change is immediate and, with stable weight, lasting. The scar is the variable: it fades and flattens over a long period and how far it does so depends on your skin, your healing and where it was placed. Judge the result at around a year and a half, not at six weeks.

After losing weight, I had loose skin on my arms and it made me super insecure. The arm lift here changed that completely. The scars are healing nicely and the shape looks so much better now. The team was very kind and attentive.

I had an arm lift to remove sagging skin after weight loss. The recovery was faster than I expected and the scars are barely visible. The care I received was 10/10 I feel so much more confident wearing sleeveless tops now!

B.· Arm liftVerified

I lost over 100 pounds, which was great, but I was left with a lot of excess skin on my arms, the classic "bat wings". An arm lift (brachioplasty) was the final step in my journey. The team in Istanbul was fantastic, very supportive. The surgery went smoothly and I can now wear short-sleeved shirts with pride. It really completed my transformation.

Frequently asked questions

Answers from the medical content team, reviewed by the medical reviewer named on this page.

How much does an arm lift cost in Turkey?
It depends on whether the operation is a full, mini or extended brachioplasty, whether liposuction is included and whether you stay overnight. The clinic list on this page shows the current price for each hospital with a note of what it covers.
Is brachioplasty the same as an arm lift?
Yes. Brachioplasty is the medical term for the same operation.
How bad is the scar?
It is long, it runs along the inner or back edge of the upper arm, and it is permanent. It fades over roughly a year to eighteen months but it does not disappear. This is the main thing to weigh.
Can I have it without a long scar?
Only if the loose skin is limited to the top of the arm, in which case a short-scar version keeps the incision in the armpit. An examination decides it, not a preference.
Will liposuction alone fix my arms?
If your skin still retracts, possibly. If the skin is loose, liposuction alone tends to make it hang more. A surgeon should tell you which applies to you.
How long do I need to stay in Turkey?
Long enough for the wound check that clears you to fly. Book a changeable return, because a seroma or swelling can extend it.
When can I go back to the gym?
Light activity comes back within weeks, upper body training much later and in stages. Your surgeon sets the schedule based on how the closure is healing.
Will my arms be numb afterwards?
Numbness along the inner arm is very common early on and usually improves over months. Some patches can remain permanently.
Can it be combined with a breast or body lift?
Yes, and after major weight loss it often is. Combining lengthens the operation and the recovery, so it should be a planned decision.
What if the scar widens?
It is a known outcome on this operation because the inner arm moves and stretches. Scar revision is possible later; ask about the policy and the cost before you book.
