Long waiting times in UK…

Because of long waiting times in UK hospitals due to Covid19, I hit upon the idea of having my bilateral hernia surgery done while on a 2-week holiday in Antalya. After making inquiries through Yasmin, I had a short but comprehensive consultation with an eminent surgeon Prof Alihan Gürkan and my operation was scheduled for a day halfway through my stay in Antalya. It went well with keyhole surgery, I stayed in overnight and was discharged the next day, which gave me 6 days to recover before my flight home to Scotland. Yasmin kept in touch throughout, making sure I had transport to and from the hospital, and a special thanks to Fatma, my mentor and guide at the Memorial Hospital on my day of tests and examinations. I telephoned my surgeon a few days after the operation for advice on removing my plasters and he was most helpful and reassuring about my complete recovery. I was not too fond of the breakfast, but considered it as another form of medicine! My flight home was amazingly comfortable without painkillers, although they were definitely needed for a few days after my operation. In conclusion, I would be happy to have other treatment like this, though in a nice sort of way I hope never to set eyes on the Memorial Hospital again. 🙂

A very positive outcome

A very positive outcome, following my decision to pursue in having dental cosmetic surgery/treatment carried out in Turkey. Excellent advisory skills by Flymedi rep Abud. He was professional, well informed, and followed me up with total attention throughout the whole process. Last but not least, I thank Dr Ahmed Kumsan and his team at Infinity Smiles Dental Clinic for their commitment and professionalism. Highly recommended.

Thank you Flymedi

I was considering several different options, however Abud was by far the most committed and helpful of all the agents I'd been in discussions with. Everything was organised for me and I was guided throughout and if I was feeling apprehensive about anything or had any questions Abud was always on hand to answer my questions and give reassurances. I'm so happy with the results of my operation and I was left overwhelmed by how friendly and supportive everyone was throughout. If you're considering using flymedi then I can honestly say you'll be delighted with the service both before during and after your surgery.

Recommended For Breast Lift

Mastopexy is recommended for any patient is bothered by the feeling that their breast has lost shape and volume.

Breast sagging or ptosis is part of the natural aging process, but several factors influence the degree to which breasts sag.

There are several types of ptosis, depending on the severity according to Regnault's classification published by Paula Regnault in 1976:

  • Grade I – Mild ptosis
  • Grade II – Moderate ptosis
  • Grade III – Advanced ptosis
  • Grade IV – Severe ptosis

Not Recommended For Breast Lift

Breast lift procedure or mastopexy surgery is not recommended for patients with underlying health conditions such as heart problems and lung disease. Patients should be physically healthy and maintain a stable weight. Patients suffering from obesity and diabetes are not good candidates for breast lift surgery.

Discharge From Hospital

Patient is required to stay 1 night in the hospital

Duration Of Operation

Between 2 to 3 hours

Overview

Breast lift surgery, also known as mastopexy, is a type of mammoplasty in which a patient’s sagging breasts are raised and firmed to a more aesthetically pleasing level. Breast lift surgery can modify the position, contour, and size of a patient's breasts. Mastopexy surgery can also remove excess skin tissue, excess fatty tissue, and overstretched ligaments from the patient's bust area and the internal breast tissue is also reshaped through this procedure.

There are two main types of breast lifts. The types of breast lifts depend on whether the patient wishes to reduce or enlarge her bust:

  • Breast lift with augmentation using breast implants
  • Breast lift with reduction

Preparation

Heavy smokers should be aware that smoking can have an ill effect on the body’s capacity to heal and regenerate. If the patient is a smoker, she should quit smoking at least a month before going in for surgery. Patients may be advised to stop taking certain medicines such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, aspirin, and medicines that contain aspirin. Patients may also be asked to stop taking naturopathic substances such as garlic, gingko, and ginseng as they may affect clotting and anesthesia during the breast lift surgery.

How It Is Performed

The breast lift surgery technique depends on a few factors:

  • Breast shape
  • Breast size
  • The position of the areola
  • The grade of breast ptosis
  • The amount of extra skin to be removed

Once the surgeon decides on the technique that will be used and the incision spots, the patient is administered anesthesia or sedation. After the proper incision is created, the doctor can begin the breast lift procedure, which includes the removal of extra skin and lifting the breast tissue into the proper location. The breast tissue is reshaped with the nipple being repositioned higher on the chest wall. Larger areolas can also be reduced at this point. The area is then wrapped in bandages, and the breast lift recovery period can officially begin.

Recovery

The average breast lift recovery period lasts a few weeks during which the patient needs to take certain precautions in order to ensure the success of the procedure. A special medical bra will be provided to the patient by the clinic. The medical bra will need to be worn during the full breast lift recovery period. Sleeping on the stomach is not allowed during the recovery period, because it can create a negative effect on the surgery’s outcome. A small, thin tube may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain excess blood or fluid. Patients usually return to work and normal activities such as sports in 1-2 weeks. Most of the post-operatory side effects occur during the first week after breast lift surgery.

Risks

Breast lift surgery complications can include:

  • Infection
  • Bleeding
  • Swelling, bruising and pain
  • Asymmetry scarring
  • Decrease in nipple sensitivity
  • Allergic reactions

Side Effects

The patient can feel pain, discomfort, swelling and a loss of nipple sensitivity after the surgery. Scars will generally be red at first, then purple, and then fade to become paler over 12 to 18 months. Side effects after breast lift surgery are at the strongest level in the first 4 days but will gradually subside.

Nipple sensitivity usually returns to normal in around 6 weeks to 6 months.

Success Rates

The average success rate based on mastopexy surgery patient reviews is 94,2%.

Before And After

The results of mastopexy (breast lift) surgery can be seen immediately but the final results of the breast lift surgery will slowly become apparent during the course of a few months. It can take several months for the swelling to settle. The results of mastopexy surgery are long-lasting, but the patient's breasts will continue to change over time. The patient should adopt a healthy and active lifestyle in order to maintain a renewed and rejuvenated appearance after surgery.

Faq

Does Mastopexy Surgery Leave Scars?
Mastopexy surgery usually leaves a circular scar in the areola. Depending on how much lifting is required, the scars may be placed in the border of the areola and breast skin, extended down from the areola to the base of the breast or hidden in the fold of the chest.

Should I Have Mastopexy Surgery If I Plan on Having Children?
Mastopexy surgery does not impair breastfeeding. In rare cases, nerves or ducts can get damaged during the surgery and it may lead to reduced milk production. Pregnancy can affect the timing of a breast lift, as the whole pregnancy process has variable effects on the appearance or the function of the breasts.  If you are planning to have a baby, it would be better to delay the breast lift surgery.

Will Mastopexy Surgery Change My Bust Size?
A breast lift procedure alone will not significantly change the size of the breasts. However, patients can opt for a breast lift with augmentation or breast lift with a reduction to achieve the desired result.
