Made my trip overseas so much easier!

Yasmin was extremely helpful, friendly and made planning my trip so much easier. I don't know what I would have done without her! She told me how to get a travel visa and luckily warned me of any travel restrictions that were going on! I had to rebook my trip twice due to covid & restrictions and Yasmin handled everything on the hospitals end. One of the times I had to rebook it was because my layover was in london and Turkey banned all incoming travel from the UK. The airline never notified me so if it wasn't for Yasmin warning me I would have gotten on the plane and been stuck in london! Going overseas to a country you've never been to before to get plastic surgery can be scary, having Yasmin made it a lot less scary knowing you have somebody there that's on your team to help you.

Long waiting times in UK…

Because of long waiting times in UK hospitals due to Covid19, I hit upon the idea of having my bilateral hernia surgery done while on a 2-week holiday in Antalya. After making inquiries through Yasmin, I had a short but comprehensive consultation with an eminent surgeon Prof Alihan Gürkan and my operation was scheduled for a day halfway through my stay in Antalya. It went well with keyhole surgery, I stayed in overnight and was discharged the next day, which gave me 6 days to recover before my flight home to Scotland. Yasmin kept in touch throughout, making sure I had transport to and from the hospital, and a special thanks to Fatma, my mentor and guide at the Memorial Hospital on my day of tests and examinations. I telephoned my surgeon a few days after the operation for advice on removing my plasters and he was most helpful and reassuring about my complete recovery. I was not too fond of the breakfast, but considered it as another form of medicine! My flight home was amazingly comfortable without painkillers, although they were definitely needed for a few days after my operation. In conclusion, I would be happy to have other treatment like this, though in a nice sort of way I hope never to set eyes on the Memorial Hospital again. 🙂

A very positive outcome

A very positive outcome, following my decision to pursue in having dental cosmetic surgery/treatment carried out in Turkey. Excellent advisory skills by Flymedi rep Abud. He was professional, well informed, and followed me up with total attention throughout the whole process. Last but not least, I thank Dr Ahmed Kumsan and his team at Infinity Smiles Dental Clinic for their commitment and professionalism. Highly recommended.

Thank you Flymedi

I was considering several different options, however Abud was by far the most committed and helpful of all the agents I'd been in discussions with. Everything was organised for me and I was guided throughout and if I was feeling apprehensive about anything or had any questions Abud was always on hand to answer my questions and give reassurances. I'm so happy with the results of my operation and I was left overwhelmed by how friendly and supportive everyone was throughout. If you're considering using flymedi then I can honestly say you'll be delighted with the service both before during and after your surgery.

Overview

Calf augmentation surgery is a cosmetic procedure which uses calf implants in order to enhance the lower portion of a patient’s legs. Patients who have a smaller lower leg due to an injury, disease or both. The calf implants procedure is a great way to minimize the discomfort of deformity and to provide the patient with more aesthetically pleasing lower legs.

Calf implants surgery is considered by some to be reconstructive surgery, although the leg’s functions are not improved or restored in any way – the only goal of this procedure is to provide the lower legs with a normal looking appearance.

Although calf augmentation surgery is one of the least popular procedures among plastic surgeons, it is also one of the most satisfying procedures among patients. It is particularly satisfying if performed by experienced surgeons. Patients may consider calf implants options abroad, to find cost-effective treatment packages as well as skilled and experienced surgeons in countries such as Turkey. Mainly when the priceadvantage is achieved apart from the success of the surgery, patients can quickly answer yes to the question 'Is it worth it?'

Preparation

While preparing the calf implants surgery, patients need to avoid smoking at least a month before the procedure. Omega 3 capsules, anti-inflammatory medicines, blood thinners such as aspirin, and herbal teas also need to be avoided for at least 2 weeks before the procedure is set to begin.

How It Is Performed

Calf implants surgery is quite similar to any implant surgery. Patients and surgeons decided about having two implants in one leg or just one implant in each before the surgery. The patient’s legs are measured and necessary medical tests have been applied. Based on the measurements, implants are ordered and sterilized in order to insert during the surgery.

Calf augmentation through calf implants surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia, but in some cases, intravenous sedation can also be used. Once the anesthesia kicks in, calf implants surgeons create small incisions generally in the creases behind the knee. A special type of instrument is used at this stage, to create a pocket between the fascia and the muscle tissue underneath. The pocket must be big enough for the implant to fit in but small enough so the implant will be secured. The surgeon will then check the patient’s legs, with the implants in place. If the desired position and result is achieved, the incisions are stitched back together. If not, the surgeon can make little adjustments. The area is then wrapped in bandages and a compression garment is applied. Sometimes drains can be placed as well, in order to facilitate healing and the removal of unwanted fluids from the surgery area.

Recovery

During the first 12 hours of the calf implants recovery period, the patient's legs must be kept in an elevated position. Surgeons will give the compression bandages that patients will need to keep on for two weeks post-surgery, according to the ISAPS (The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery). During the second week of the calf implants recovery period, patients can return to minimum physical activity and work (if the job requires minimum effort).

Heavy lifting, standing and/or walking for long periods need to be avoided for at least 3 weeks after the calf implants surgery. Most patients take 3 weeks off work for this procedure to get a comfortable recovery period. Patients also need to follow the doctor's instructions carefully. The legs need to be massaged daily in order to avoid capsular contracture.
