(Chin and neck liposuction) great experience with Abud

I found flymedi while I was looking for a doctor in Istanbul to do a chin and neck liposuction. Abud from Flymedi contacted me and he was great from the beginning until even after I went back home, he took care of everything and was always available, definitely the right person for this experience! My doctor (Dr Ozge Ergun) was also great, I'm very satisfied and I can only recommend Flymedi, the best place to find your treatment!

5* service

From start to finish my experience with Flymedi was exceptional. The coordinator, Abud worked hard at finding the right surgeon for me. He was constantly in contact while I was away to ensure everything went smoothly. I honestly could not be happier with the company. Dr Ozge has done an exceptional job too. Thank you Abud for making me feel confident again!

Great Service

After a long research for hair transplant, I came across Flymedi. I had several reasons to get this service from them such as getting rid of the bureaucratic process, handling accommodation issues, personal assistant, etc. I felt comfortable once it is done by Flymedi as full of customer-oriented style, I was just worried about the surgery which went well too! Thank you Flymedi team. Make sure that I will be letting people know your passion for helping patients who admit to have surgery done in Poland.

Recommended For Septoplasty

Septoplasty surgery is recommended for patients with a deviated nasal septum that impedes breathing. The septoplasty procedure can also be combined with rhinoplasty if the surgeon considers it appropriate. Septoplasty and rhinoplasty can be performed at the same time in order to improve the aesthetics and functionality of the patient's nose (septorhinoplasty).

Patients with breathing problems caused by enlarged turbinates can have turbinate reduction surgery and septoplasty surgery for a better effect.

Not Recommended For Septoplasty

Septoplasty surgery is not recommended for patients suffering from serious health problems. The operation usually requires general anesthesia, and it may endanger the lives of patients suffering from morbid obesity, heart problems, or lung disease.

Overview

Septoplasty surgery, also known as septal reconstruction or submucous septal resection, is a type of surgery used to reconstruct and improve the functionality of the nasal septum. The deviated nasal septum is a very frequent and common cause of septoplasty. Surgical correction of a deviated septum is the correct treatment for septal deviation. Over the last 2 decades, the techniques in the field of rhinology have improved beyond functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS).

The nasal septum is the structure between the two nasal cavities. Healthy patients have a straight septum, but in some cases the septum can deviate into a nasal cavity, narrowing it and ultimately impeding airflow through it. In some cases, the deviated septumcauses complete nasal congestion, making it nearly impossible for patients to breathe through their noses. In this case, septoplasty and rhinoplasty operations are performed to improve the breathing ability of the patients and hence, their quality of life. Some patients can also opt for turbinate reduction surgery, which can also greatly improve breathing.

Preparation

The patient must stop the intake aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, and herbal supplements at least 2 weeks before undergoing septoplasty surgery as they can increase bleeding. Green teas, herbal teas, and Omega 3 capsules are also forbidden at least 2 weeks before the septoplasty surgery. Patients also should stop smoking before and after the surgery.

How It Is Performed

The patient will be administered either general or local anesthesia. Once the anesthesia applies, the surgeon will create small incisions inside the nose and proceed to trim, replace and reposition the cartilage or bone. The deviated septum is moved into the right position. At this point, the surgeon can perform a turbinate reduction procedure as well, which can improve breathing. Small silicone splints may be inserted inside the nostrils in order to support the new septum. Patients may need stitches to hold the septum and membrane in place. The surgeon may also use packing inside the nose in order to prevent or reduce bleeding during the recovery period. The surgery takes from 30 to 90 minutes to complete, depending on the complexity of the condition.

Recovery

The septoplasty recovery period lasts anywhere between 2 and 4 weeks. The patient should avoid physical activities such as jogging, aerobics or any sport for the first two weeks. This is done in order to avoid potential bleeding. Patients should not blow their nose during the recovery period. During this time, raising the head while sleeping is more comfortable to sleep and reduces the risks.

Risks

Septoplasty surgery is a simple, straightforward procedure but complications can occur. Septoplasty complications can include one or more of the following:

  • Bleeding
  • Infection
  • Negative reaction to anesthesia
  • Nasal obstruction
  • Septal perforation
  • Septal hematoma
  • Structural deformity
  • Ocular complications
  • A numbing sensation in the teeth or upper gum
  • Decrease in the sense of smell

Septoplasty complications are rather rare – around 0,5% of patients can experience excessive bleeding after the procedure.

Side Effects

The patient may have the sensation of a stuffy nose for a few weeks during the septoplasty recovery period. While the bones and cartilage of the septum are still recovering, it is strictly forbidden to blow the nose at this stage. Bruising and swelling can appear in some cases as well.

Success Rates

The average septoplasty success rate is around 90%.

Before And After

Patients usually report a 45% increase in nose functionality after the septoplasty procedure.

Faq

Rhinoplasty Vs. Septoplasty Surgery – What Is the Difference?
Septoplasty surgery is used in order to straighten a deviated septum that impedes breathing. On the other hand, rhinoplasty is a more aesthetic type of procedure in which the nose structure is changed in order to eliminate some problems such as the nasal hump. Both of these procedures can be done at the same time.

Can Septoplasty Surgery Cure Sleep Apnea or Snoring?
Septoplasty surgery cannot cure sleep disorders such as snoring or sleep apnea. Septoplasty can only improve nasal breathing by correcting the septum.

Do the Septoplasty Splints Need to Be Removed?
Septoplasty splints can be left in place for as long as 1 to 2 weeks after the septoplasty operation.

In some cases, splints are not necessary, and only stitchesare used to strengthen the repositioned septum structure. In this case, they do not need removal because they dissolve by themselves in a few weeks after the septum has healed..
