Long waiting times in UK…

Because of long waiting times in UK hospitals due to Covid19, I hit upon the idea of having my bilateral hernia surgery done while on a 2-week holiday in Antalya. After making inquiries through Yasmin, I had a short but comprehensive consultation with an eminent surgeon Prof Alihan Gürkan and my operation was scheduled for a day halfway through my stay in Antalya. It went well with keyhole surgery, I stayed in overnight and was discharged the next day, which gave me 6 days to recover before my flight home to Scotland. Yasmin kept in touch throughout, making sure I had transport to and from the hospital, and a special thanks to Fatma, my mentor and guide at the Memorial Hospital on my day of tests and examinations. I telephoned my surgeon a few days after the operation for advice on removing my plasters and he was most helpful and reassuring about my complete recovery. I was not too fond of the breakfast, but considered it as another form of medicine! My flight home was amazingly comfortable without painkillers, although they were definitely needed for a few days after my operation. In conclusion, I would be happy to have other treatment like this, though in a nice sort of way I hope never to set eyes on the Memorial Hospital again. 🙂

A very positive outcome

A very positive outcome, following my decision to pursue in having dental cosmetic surgery/treatment carried out in Turkey. Excellent advisory skills by Flymedi rep Abud. He was professional, well informed, and followed me up with total attention throughout the whole process. Last but not least, I thank Dr Ahmed Kumsan and his team at Infinity Smiles Dental Clinic for their commitment and professionalism. Highly recommended.

Thank you Flymedi

I was considering several different options, however Abud was by far the most committed and helpful of all the agents I'd been in discussions with. Everything was organised for me and I was guided throughout and if I was feeling apprehensive about anything or had any questions Abud was always on hand to answer my questions and give reassurances. I'm so happy with the results of my operation and I was left overwhelmed by how friendly and supportive everyone was throughout. If you're considering using flymedi then I can honestly say you'll be delighted with the service both before during and after your surgery.

Recommended For Facelift

Facelift surgery is recommended for patients with:

  • Wrinkles
  • Sagging skin
  • Jowls
  • Eye bags
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Deep creases around the mouth and nose
  • Excess skin under the chin and in the neck

Not Recommended For Facelift

Facelift surgery is not recommended for patients who have diabetes, high blood pressure, and other serious health conditions. Heavy smokers are included in this category as well – smoking can influence the recovery period and ultimately, the result of the facelift procedure. Healthy patients who do not have medical conditions that impair healing and have realistic expectations are generally accepted as good candidates for the facelift procedure.

Discharge From Hospital

Patient may spend one night in hospital

Duration Of Operation

2 to 5 hours

Overview

Facelift surgery, also known as a rhytidectomy procedure (literally translating as the surgical removal of wrinkles) is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures in the USA. According to latest data released by American Society of Plastic Surgeons, facelift surgery or face lifting is 6th most common surgeries performed in 2018 with the number of 121,531 procedures, after top 5 plastic surgeries which are breast augmentation, liposuction, nose job (rhinoplasty union eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) and tummy tuck (abdominoplasty).

Facelift surgery is mostly preferred by patients that wish to have a more youthful facial appearance. There are a few different techniques which can be applied during facelift surgery – usually, excess facial skin is removed, and the underlying tissue is tightened for a better and long-lasting effect. Facelift surgery is often combined with an eyelid surgery procedure for a better effect.

Facelift surgery can also be combined with the following procedures to enhance the youthful appearance of the patients:

  • Eyelid surgery
  • Neck lift
  • Brow lift
  • Forehead lift
  • Fat transfer
  • Skin peels

Preparation

The patient should avoid vitamins, herbal teas and blood thinners such as aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs for at least 2 weeks before the facelift surgeryas those supplements and medications can increase bleeding and bruising during and after the surgery. The patient should also stop smoking, as it can have a negative effect on the healing process.

How It Is Performed

A facelift procedure is an effective way to help patients rejuvenate their facial appearance. The procedure is done under general anesthesia. Once the anesthesia applied, the surgeon will create an incision behind the hairline and around the front of the ear. The surgeon will then proceed to lift the skin and fatty tissue and separate it from the underlying muscle and tissue. The excess skin is then carefully removed, and once a satisfactory result is achieved, the surgeon will proceed to close the incision with sutures. Drains may be applied in some cases, to help eliminate excess bodily fluid and facilitate the recovery process.

The whole area is then bandaged in order to prevent infection, and the facelift recovery period can begin. The surgery usually takes 4 hours, and the patient will be required to spend a night in the hospital.Mini facelifts, which have more slender effects than the standard facelift procedure, use shorter incisions at the temples that continue around the ear.

Recovery

The facelift recovery period lasts around a week in most cases. During the facelift recovery period, the patient should not use makeup for at least 4-5 days after the surgery. Once the dressings are removed in around 7 days, the patient can return to normal activities. It generally takes about two weeks for resuming a normal level of daily activity same with the patient did before the surgery. For more strenuous activities, like exercise, patients should wait about four weeks.

Risks

One of the most common facelift complications is developing an infection.

Other facelift complications can include:

  • Anesthesia risks
  • Blood clots
  • Pain or scarring
  • Damage to facial nerves
  • Hematoma
  • Skin necrosis – smoking can increase the risk of this happening
  • Hair loss – due to incisions

Side Effects

The patient may feel discomfort, pain, and nausea from the anesthesia for 1-2 days after the surgery. Patients also experience inflammation, problems with wound healing, prolonged swelling, and bruising, but these post-op effects will gradually pass in around 5 to 10 days after the facelift surgery. If not, the patient should inform the doctor in case of any extraordinary condition.

Success Rates

A survey based on 131 facelift surgery reviews sets the satisfaction rate at 97.8% (87 patients union one year after the procedure was performed. A follow-up 12 years later, after the facelift surgery sets the satisfaction rate at 68.5% (61 patients).

While there are many non-surgical choices to get a more youthful look, such as Botox, dermal fillers, laser lifts or face tape, facelift surgery provides the most permanent results with the high satisfaction rates.

Before And After

Facelift surgery is a long-lasting solution for patients wishing a more youthful appearance. The results of this procedure last for around 10 years.

A thread facelift or facelift threading is a safe and effective alternative to traditional facelift surgery in particular cases. This procedure is designed to be less invasive, more quickly, and with less risk than the standard approach.

Faq

Are Facelift Scars Visible?  Facelift scars are hidden in the hairline or the natural creases of the skin, so they are not visible.

If I Have Facelift Surgery, Will My Face Look Too Tight?
The patient will have a natural looking facial appearance after facelift surgery. It’s a good idea to see a couple of facelifts before and after pictures in order to get a good idea of what the procedure can achieve.

How Long Until The Permanent Facelift Surgery Results Are Noticeable? It can take up to a year before the permanent results of facelift surgery are visible. During this time, the swelling gradually subsides, and small changes take place. There are also some long-term recommendations for the patients to keep the results long-lasting, such as maintaining a healthy weight and adopting a consistent and quality skin care regimen.
