Online consultation with a DHI Hair Transplant specialist will be scheduled – to evaluate whether you’re a suitable candidate for the transplant surgery. We will ask you to send your photos as shown in the Photography Guide below to evaluate your case. The photos will help the doctor to decide the number of grafts that you need.
During the online consultations, expect the following questions:
It is during this consultation that your surgeon will learn about your motivation, expectations, and goals –in regard to the surgery.
The DHI Hair Transplant procedure is tailored to suit your individual’s needs, preferences, and the clinic’s best practices. When you arrive at the clinic, you will have your final consultation with the surgeon. Your surgeon will examine your overall health condition by performing standard medical tests.
Before the procedure, your surgeon will give you local anesthesia. Then your surgeon will start the procedure. Since there is no need to make incisions in this technique of hair transplant, the next step will be the extraction process.
Your surgeon will extract the hair follicles from the donor area, using a specially designed instrument with a diameter of 1mm or less.
The extracted hair follicles are then implanted directly into the recipient area using an implant tool. No holes or slits are needed. You can always ask your surgeon to give you sedatives if you're feeling anxious to help you relax.
A day after the surgery, you will have to return to the clinic for a follow-up. Your surgeon will give you a few instructions that you should follow to make the recovery process flawless. Some of the instructions include:
You should not touch the recipient area for the first three days.
You can return to low-to-moderate exercise seven days after the surgery, but you should avoid heavy weight lifting for ten days.
You may wash the recipient area with normal water pressure ten days after the procedure to remove any scabbing and keep the scalp clean.
You should avoid direct sun exposure for four weeks.
Avoid using helmets for 15 days after the procedure.
Avoid using chemical products on your scalp for the first month. You can use the products that your surgeon gives you after the surgery.
Avoid smoking and alcohol after the surgery.
In your first week after the surgery, you may experience minor swelling and discomfort.
In your second week after the hair transplant, you may notice some redness in the donor and implanted area which is normal and will fade away.
Three weeks after the DHI treatment, you may notice a temporary loss of implanted hair this is normal and expected.
After three to four months of the DHI hair transplant, you will notice hair growth. The whole process of growing can take up to 16 months.
A week before the procedure, you should stop taking Aspirin and any other medication associated with blood thinning.
If you are allergic to any drugs, you should inform your surgeon.
Avoid smoking 24 hours before the surgery.
Consuming any alcoholic beverages can affect anesthesia. Avoid alcohol 24 hours prior to surgery.
If you are taking medication for chronic or acute diseases such as diabetes and heart disease, you should inform your surgeon before the surgery.
