The first time I had some doubts about the intervențion , Due to the fact that the hair regenerates periodic, what I can say is that the result of a hair transplant is 100% successful. This revival comes after a period of 9 months waiting to see the result of the intervention. I recommend Flymedi and of course I recommend the person who was near me during the intervention Mr Mustafa. Mr. Mustafa is a person I rarely met. I can say that everything related to professionalism is on his side. I recommend to all those who want to have professional interventions, to have the highest confidence in Flymedi. Thank you Flymedi !

I came across FlyMedi online while looking for medical tourism options for septorhinoplasty in Turkey. I was contacted by FlyMedi's Nadia via email within hours of submitting for more information on their website. Nadia made herself available 24/7 via email and WhatsApp, even as I traveled across multiple time zones. Nadia provided multiple options in multiple locations with pros and cons and for each and stayed in touch throughout the process. I already recommended FlyMedi and specifically Nadia to friends and family considering Turkey for any medical tourism they may be considering. Thank you Nadia!

I'd been researching the procedure for a while and the cost in Australia was significantly higher than in Turkey. I came across the Flymedi website and within hours of submitting an enquiry, Nadia had reached out. She provided multiple quotes with different options, background on the doctors and hospitals. Nadia was available 24/7 and really helped me through everything from start to finish. Great business idea, exceptional staff and great customer service

I am really happy that I have planned my operation through Flymedi. Robin took great care of me and was always there for me and made everything possible. I had a breast lift and tummy tuck and had liposuction by Dr. Asli Datli. MedicalPark in Istanbul. she is a super doctor, the results has become very nice and was also there well cared for. Nurse Yeliz is adorable and has always been by my side. She was also always available and answered all my questions. I have felt very well, thanks again to all I am very satisfied.

Overview

Total knee replacement surgery, also known as total knee arthroplasty is a type of orthopedic procedure usually performed when any of the knee’s 3 main cartilage structures are damaged from injury or disease.
Most of the time for the patients who are suffering from osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, meniscus tears, cartilage defects or ligament tears, total knee replacement surgery is performed.

For about 70% of the patients, total knee replacement operation is performed, and for the other patient's partial knee replacement surgery is performed, or alternative treatments are chosen which can be stem cells, minimally invasive knee surgery or weight loss programs.

Preparation

Before the operation, the patient should stop taking any immunosuppressive drugs and aspirin for around 2 weeks. Also, the complications of the surgery might be increased due to smoking. Therefore, it is advised to quit smoking for 2 weeks before the operation. Additionally, all sorts of drugs and alcohol should be avoided before the surgery as well.

How It Is Performed

During the total knee replacement operation, firstly general anesthesia is administered then surgeons make an incision on the knee. In order to see the incision site clearly, the patient’s knee is positioned in a 90-degree angle.Any damaged cartilage structures are removed from the patient’s knee at this point – the bone is also reshaped for the new prosthesis. The total knee replacement is then attached to the femur and tibia. The patella is also attached, and the incision is closed with sutures – the total knee replacement recovery period can begin.

Recovery

After the surgery, patients stay at the hospital for around 5-7 days. However, the total recovery period from the total knee surgery is around 6 weeks. A couple of days after the surgery patient will be able to sit and walk.

Risks

Even though total knee replacement surgery complications are rare (affects 1% of the patients union there are several complications that involve scarring, lowered knee mobility caused by scar tissue, misaligned or loose prosthetic components, infections, complications related to anesthesia and excessive bleeding.

Side Effects

Side effects of the total knee replacement involve nausea, bleeding, bruising, pain in the knees area, dizziness, and headaches.

Success Rates

The success rate of total knee replacement operation is regularly around 95%. Also, 80%  of the prosthetics, do not necessitate any revision for more than 20 years.

Before And After

After the total knee replacement, more than 90% of the patients state that they experienced pain relief, but it should be noted that physical therapy is crucial in order to gain full mobility. Physical therapy sessions are necessitated for at least a couple of months.

Faq

Are there any alternatives to total knee replacement surgery?
Yes, there are alternative treatments such as partial knee replacement surgery, but the suitability is depended on the patient’s medical condition.

When can I start doing sports again?
Patients can enjoy low impact activities such as swimming and golfing in a couple of months after the procedure. After the operation, activities which cause strong pressure on the knees should be avoided, such as basketball, tennis, jogging, etc.

When can I return to work?
After the total knee replacement surgery between 2 to 4 weeks, most of the patients return to their daily routine but still, patients should avoid physically challenging activities for several months.
