Made my trip overseas so much easier!

Yasmin was extremely helpful, friendly and made planning my trip so much easier. I don't know what I would have done without her! She told me how to get a travel visa and luckily warned me of any travel restrictions that were going on! I had to rebook my trip twice due to covid & restrictions and Yasmin handled everything on the hospitals end. One of the times I had to rebook it was because my layover was in london and Turkey banned all incoming travel from the UK. The airline never notified me so if it wasn't for Yasmin warning me I would have gotten on the plane and been stuck in london! Going overseas to a country you've never been to before to get plastic surgery can be scary, having Yasmin made it a lot less scary knowing you have somebody there that's on your team to help you.

Long waiting times in UK…

Because of long waiting times in UK hospitals due to Covid19, I hit upon the idea of having my bilateral hernia surgery done while on a 2-week holiday in Antalya. After making inquiries through Yasmin, I had a short but comprehensive consultation with an eminent surgeon Prof Alihan Gürkan and my operation was scheduled for a day halfway through my stay in Antalya. It went well with keyhole surgery, I stayed in overnight and was discharged the next day, which gave me 6 days to recover before my flight home to Scotland. Yasmin kept in touch throughout, making sure I had transport to and from the hospital, and a special thanks to Fatma, my mentor and guide at the Memorial Hospital on my day of tests and examinations. I telephoned my surgeon a few days after the operation for advice on removing my plasters and he was most helpful and reassuring about my complete recovery. I was not too fond of the breakfast, but considered it as another form of medicine! My flight home was amazingly comfortable without painkillers, although they were definitely needed for a few days after my operation. In conclusion, I would be happy to have other treatment like this, though in a nice sort of way I hope never to set eyes on the Memorial Hospital again. 🙂

A very positive outcome

A very positive outcome, following my decision to pursue in having dental cosmetic surgery/treatment carried out in Turkey. Excellent advisory skills by Flymedi rep Abud. He was professional, well informed, and followed me up with total attention throughout the whole process. Last but not least, I thank Dr Ahmed Kumsan and his team at Infinity Smiles Dental Clinic for their commitment and professionalism. Highly recommended.

Thank you Flymedi

I was considering several different options, however Abud was by far the most committed and helpful of all the agents I'd been in discussions with. Everything was organised for me and I was guided throughout and if I was feeling apprehensive about anything or had any questions Abud was always on hand to answer my questions and give reassurances. I'm so happy with the results of my operation and I was left overwhelmed by how friendly and supportive everyone was throughout. If you're considering using flymedi then I can honestly say you'll be delighted with the service both before during and after your surgery.

Overview

Dental braces for teethor orthodontic braces are special dentistry devices applied by orthodontists in order to correct, align, and straighten teeth. Most patients opting for this procedure have one or more of the following:

  • Malocclusions
  • Overbites
  • Deep bites
  • Open bites
  • Crossbites
  • Crooked teeth
  • General flaws of the teeth and jaws

While most patients opt to use dental braces alone, as a cosmetic measure, others combine dental braces with other orthodontic treatments, such as widening the palate or widening the jaws.

Braces for teeth come in different types, including:

Preparation

The dentist will need to see a set of dental x-rays before the treatment can begin. The dentist will analyze these x-rays and decide if the orthodontic braces are the right choice for the patient.

How It Is Performed

Most patients ask themselves how braces work. Here is the full procedure explained: Firstly, the teeth of the patient are checked and inspected thoroughly in order to see if this is the right procedure. Impressions of the teeth are then taken before carefully analyzing the patient's x-rays. By analyzing the x-rays and impressions, the dentist is able to determine the best treatment plan for the patient. Sometimes digital models can be created, and the patient will be able to see the results of the treatment even before starting it.

This type of orthodontic treatment can take between six months and two years, depending on the state of the patient's teeth. In some cases, surgery might be necessary before undergoing this treatment. The amount of time it takes to put the brakes on and the amount of time needed to keep them on are heavily dependent on the issue the patient is facing, and the types of dental braces applied. Generally speaking, adhesive and bonding cement is used to apply the braces and keep them in place.

Recovery

Patients will be required to visit the dentist regularly for adjustments – usually between 4 and 10 weeks after the orthodontic braces are fitted. During these appointments, the orthodontist can evaluate the patient's teeth and any progress made, while at the same time ensuring the desired result is achieved.

Risks

Orthodontic braces risks and complications can include:

● Increased risk of tooth decay
● Difficulty speaking
● Mouth sores
● Allergic reaction to the dental braces
● Plaque

Side Effects

Dental braces side effects can include the following:

● Discomfort and pain, especially immediately after the dental braces are fitted
● Soreness
● Tenderness of the gums

Success Rates

Reviews set the average dental braces success rate at 69.5% for adults and 100% for young adults such as teenagers.

Before And After

Before and after braces pictures might seem appealing, but patients are required to devote extra care for their teeth while having the braces in place. One of the biggest issues patients are facing is plaque – which can form very easily and lead to tooth decay or cavities. Brushing is mandatory for all patients, and mouthwashes are highly recommended during the treatment.

The total treatment time depends on several factors, including:

  • The patient’s dental health
  • The state of the supporting bone tissue
  • The corrections which need to be made
  • Any other dental issues the patient may be having

After finishing their orthodontic treatment, patients will need to wear a retainer during the day and night for at least six months. After this period has ended, the retainer will only be worn during the night. The retainer’s role is to keep the teeth in their new position.

Faq

- What kind of foods do I need to avoid while wearing dental braces?  Hard foods and sticky foods need to be avoided during the orthodontic braces treatment. Taffy, caramel, hard pretzels, and carrots can actually damage the braces themselves and prolong the treatment.

- What is the least visible type of dental braces?
Invisalign braces, as the name suggests, are a type of invisible braces, but it has several disadvantages.

- At what age should my child have orthodontic treatment? The sooner, the better – certain conditions such as teeth crowding, underbites, overbites, and others are much easier to correct when the patient is young, and the jaw is still growing. This doesn't necessarily mean that the treatment won't work for adults as well, but if the patient is young, the treatment will take less time, and the results will be better.
