Why prices in Turkey are lower

Lower prices in Turkey come from structural cost differences, not from cutting the operation short. Clinic staff costs, facility costs and the exchange rate all sit well below UK equivalents, and Istanbul in particular has a dense cluster of clinics competing for the same international patients, which pushes package prices down further.

There is a version of the same economics that should worry you. If a price is far below the ranges above, the saving has to come from somewhere: less surgeon time per case, a more junior operator, or a facility not authorised for the anaesthesia your scope needs. An "area" is not a standardised unit. Two clinics quoting for "one area" can mean different amounts of surgery, so the quote itself has to spell out the anatomy.

"Lipo 360" and "full-body liposuction"

Lipo 360 generally describes circumferential contouring around the torso, but it does not have one universal area definition; ask your surgeon to list every area it includes at that clinic before comparing two 360 quotes.

Full-body liposuction is not a standardised single operation. It usually means several areas treated in one session or staged across more than one, and the safe plan depends on your health, total anaesthesia time, estimated aspirate and facility capability, not on "full body" being a routine upgrade. Neither term is used on this page as a marketing or safety claim.

Liposuction contours fat you already have in a stable pattern. It works best when expectations match what fat removal alone can achieve.

The right option depends on whether the problem is fat, skin, muscle separation, or overall weight, which liposuction alone does not address.

Combining liposuction with another procedure

Combining operations can change anaesthesia duration, blood loss and fluid shifts, thrombosis risk, positioning, mobility, wound burden, hospital stay, recovery support and how soon you are fit to fly. Combined surgery is not automatically cheaper, more convenient, safer or more effective than staging procedures separately, and a tummy tuck is not simply a complement to liposuction without its own recovery.

If harvested fat will be reinjected, that reinjection is a separate procedure, commonly a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). It is not merely liposuction with an added fee, and it needs its own safety discussion with your surgeon, covering technique and injection depth.

What combining usually looks like in practice

• Liposuction with a tummy tuck: addresses skin and muscle laxity a lift alone cannot, at the cost of a longer scar and recovery
• Liposuction with fat transfer (BBL): the reinjection site carries its own technique-specific risks, separate from the liposuction donor sites
• Liposuction as part of a mummy makeover: several procedures in one plan, which usually means longer anaesthesia and a longer recovery period, not a shortcut
• Staged liposuction across two sessions: sometimes recommended instead of combining, specifically to reduce total operative time and fluid shifts in one sitting

Whether staging or combining suits your case is confirmed together with your surgeon once your exact areas and goals are assessed.

Questions to ask before paying a deposit

• Which exact areas are being quoted, and is treatment bilateral?
• Which technique and device, and why that one for my case?
• What is the estimated total aspirate, and how is it defined?
• Would staging across two sessions reduce risk for my scope?
• Which combined procedures, if any, are planned, and why?
• Who is the named operating surgeon, and can their qualification be verified?
• What is the revision policy, and which costs does it exclude?

A clinic that can answer these in writing has assessed your case. A clinic that cannot has just quoted you.

Remote assessment

Photographs of the areas of interest, plus your health history and goals. A useful clinic will ask about skin quality, weight stability and previous surgery, and may recommend fewer areas or staging than you first asked for. Ask whether a surgeon reviewed your photographs or a coordinator did.

Before you travel

Expect instructions on stopping certain medication, supplements and nicotine. Blood tests and a physical examination happen in person, usually on arrival, and the final areas, technique and anaesthesia plan are confirmed then, not before.

Consultation and procedure day

Areas are marked and agreed with the operating surgeon in person before anything starts. Tumescent fluid is commonly infiltrated first, then fat is removed through small incisions using the selected technique, with dressings, a compression garment and, in some cases, temporary drainage.[6]

Recovery observation and going home

Discharge depends on your recovery, areas treated and anaesthesia, not a fixed clock. You need an in-person check with the surgical team before flying home, plus written aftercare instructions and your discharge summary.

Getting the timing right for flying home

NHS guidance gives a general recommendation of not flying for 5 to 7 days after liposuction, longer for larger, multi-area or combined procedures, because major surgery and air travel both increase the risk of blood clots.[9] That is not automatic medical clearance: the operating surgeon and anaesthesia team assess your individual fitness to fly. Standard travel insurance often excludes elective-surgery complications, so check the exact policy before you travel, and do not plan sightseeing into the early recovery days.

Liposuction is generally a safe procedure, but as with any operation there is always some risk,[5] and good surgeon selection reduces some risks without removing them. Figures below come from a US national analysis of liposuction performed in accredited outpatient facilities.[8]

A separate 2024 meta-analysis pooling 39 studies (29,368 patients) reported a broader overall complication rate of 2.62%, with contour deformity the most common single complication (2.35%), followed by hyperpigmentation (1.49%), seroma (0.65%) and haematoma (0.27%).^* Also reported across the wider literature, without a single reliable population-level rate to quote here: infection, persistent swelling, altered sensation or numbness, poor wound healing, fluid imbalance, lidocaine toxicity where relevant, thermal or friction burns with energy-assisted devices, fat embolism, and rare injury to deeper structures.
