4. Medical Examinations

Before the Zirconium crown process begins, your dentist will conduct medical tests to make sure that you are in acceptable health status for the treatment. Every patient is required to undergo medical tests to ensure that nothing can hinder the success of the process and if any risk is obtained, dentists try to eliminate them first.

5. Treatment Visits

There will be 2 visits to complete the Zirconium crowns process. These are:

First Appointment: Preparation and Taking Impression

The dentist examines the tooth nerve's functionality and the tooth root's stability. During the preliminary examination, the dentist will take an X-ray image of the affected tooth.

The tooth is cleaned and shaped to a specific structure. The new tooth structure helps to ensure the crown's stability. Then the dentist takes an impression and sends it to the laboratory. The impression contains a copy of the prepared tooth, its surrounding gum tissue, and the jaw structure.

A temporary crown is placed on the tooth while the Zirconium crowns are produced. The laboratory prepares the crown(s) in seven to ten days.

Second Appointment: Placement and Cementation

During your second visit, the dentist will remove the temporary crown and test if the Zirconium crowns match perfectly with your natural teeth. If so, the dentist will proceed to cement the crown. Once cemented, a Zirconium crown completely covers the tooth permanently.
