All-on-6 dental implant creates a permanent prosthesis using six dental implants. The dental procedure provides more strength and stability for your jawbone. Besides, an all-in-6 implant acts as an anchor for a bridge or over-denture.

An all-on-6 treatment replaces the entire upper or lower set of teeth.

Who Can Have All-on-6 Implant?

  • If you use tobacco or you are diabetic, you may not be an ideal candidate for the all-on-6 treatment.
  • The procedure is ideal for patients with enough bone structure, and a full arch of missing teeth. Besides, an all-on-6 implant is ideal for patients planning to remove remaining teeth and replace them with implants.

Generally, an all-on-6 dental implant requires bone grafting and it is easy to clean.  Therefore, patients who have undergone the procedure enjoy an incredibly beautiful set of teeth.

Treatment Duration

The all-on-6 implant does not require bone grafting. Therefore, the treatment duration is 3-4 hours. Therefore, it is a same-day dental procedure, which means you can get back to business the next day after the procedure.

All on 6 Risks and Side Effects

Dental implants are low risk and help patients restore aesthetics and functionality. However, there could be some side effects, so patients need to be aware before requesting the all-on-6 dental implant.

Here is an overview of possible side effects following an all-on-6 procedure.

  • Growth of bacteria, viruses, yeast, fungi, or other microorganisms
  • Injury to the gums, bones, and blood vessels during implant surgery
  • Nerve damage during the surgery
  • Improperly adjusted implant protrudes into the sinus cavity causing headaches and other sinus-related issues
  • An implant fracture in case of extreme force on the implant

The dentists will prescribe the right antibacterial mouthwash to eliminate infections. Besides, a pre-procedure X-ray helps dentists avoid nerve damage.

Consulting a professional dentist minimizes the chances of experiencing either or all of the above side effects.

All on 6 Recovery Time

Most patients recover from a dental implant within a day. The average healing time is three days, while the complete recovery is often after 1-2 weeks.

The dentist will prescribe some over-the-counter medication to relieve pain. It is abnormal for healthy all-on-6 implants to cause pain and discomfort two weeks after the procedure. In case the pain persists after a week, consult your dentist for a checkup, and further medication.

All on 6 Success Rate

The success rate for an all-in-6 treatment is 98% and should last for many years. Despite the high success rate, failures do occur. Dentists classify implants failure into early-stage failure and late-stage failure. The early-stage failure occurs prior to the insertion of the abutment and crown complex.

The early-stage failure relates to patients-specific conditions like medical conditions, and other medications

On the other side, late-stage implant failure could result from retained subgingival dental cement and traumatic occlusion.

Adequate cementation protocols and procedures will avoid the formation of unnecessary excess cement and ensure the complete removal of cement remnants.

Besides, peri-implant failure could occur if the patient does not ensure proper oral health after the procedure.

All on 6 Alternative Treatments

A partial denture is an alternative for all-on-6 implants. Ideally, the partial denture is best when you have some healthy teeth but several teeth are missing and require replacement.

Therefore, the dentist will attach teeth to a plastic base designed to match the gum color. Partial dentures will allow you to speak and eat more easily. However, the partial implant could be less stable compared to other tooth replacement options.

How is the All On 6 Dental Implants Performed?

The dentist conducts a comprehensive examination using digital x-rays and a 3D Cone Beam CT-Scan to evaluate the anatomical structures in the mouth. The examination will reveal any bone loss and enable the dentist to conclude whether the procedure is appropriate for you.

During the all-on-6 dental implant, the dentist sedates the patient using a local anesthetic or intravenous sedation. Then, the dentist places dental implants into the jawbone. Finally, the dentist will attach a temporal prosthesis to the implant.

The healing process will continue for up to three months after the implant. Over the six months, the gums and bone will change shape to adapt to the new fixture.

What Does All-on-6 implant Involve?

The initial stage to preparing for your all-on-6 implant is online consultation. Therefore, talk to a consultant regarding your health and dental history. The discussion helps the medical consultant know if you are an ideal candidate for the All-on-6 implant.

Therefore, disclose if you suffer from any allergies, whether you are using any medication and if you have made any consultation with another doctor regarding the procedure.

Planning the trip and choosing a clinic

The second stage involves researching the best clinics and dentists for your all-on-6 procedure. At this stage, you need to let the consultant know your preferences in terms of location and best dates. The consultant evaluates the available options based on your preferences and arranges a suitable date. Besides, the practitioner will help you plan the trip to ensure you start the treatment.

Final Consultation With the Dentist

Upon arrival, you will meet the dentist in charge of a face-to-face consultation. The dentist will examine your medical history and ask you about the expectations from the all-on-6 implant. Besides, the dentist will explain anything you need to know, especially what to expect before and after the procedure.

Medical Examinations

The medical practitioner will carry out a series of tests to determine if you are in acceptable health status for the treatment. In case there are risks, the dentist will eliminate them first. The dentist will assess the hard jaw tissue using medical imaging equipment.

Finally, the dentist will apply anesthesia and prepare your mouth for the implants. When the mouth is ready, the implantation procedure begins with the dentist inserting titanium screws into the jaw, followed by the implants.

Once the implantation process is over, the dentist will transfer you to the healing room where you can relax and take time to wake up from the anesthesia.

What Should I Expect After the All-On-6 Implant?

Most patients will be ready to resume daily chores after a day or two. As with any dental surgery, expect some discomfort over the healing process. Some of the side effects may include gum swelling, slight bruising, and pain in the implant area.

A week or two during the healing process, this pain will be gone. In case the pain persists, contact your dentist for further assistance.

Things you Should Avoid Prior To All-On-6 Implant

To get ready for the all-on-6 implant, you need to stop eating or drinking anything 6 hours before your procedure. If you are taking some medication, use just a small sip of water. Also, you should avoid sugary food and drinks prior to the dental implant procedure.

Additionally, avoid smoking at least 12 hours prior to your appointment.

How Long Does All-On-6 Implant Last?

With proper oral health, the implant can last a lifetime. Therefore, the patient must ensure regular dental check-ups as recommended by the dentist. Besides, the patient must brush teeth at least 2 times a day, and use recommended antibiotics and mouthwash to prevent bacterial infections.

How Many Teeth Can Two Implants Support?

Two dental implants will support up to five teeth. If you have lost all teeth throughout an arch, you may replace them with four dental implants or all-on-6 implants.

Which is Better, All-On-4 or All-On 6 Implant?

The difference between all-on-4 and all-on-6 implants is the number of implants placed in the mouth. Dentists believe that all-on 6 dental implants provide a stronger and stable base.

Is all on 6 dental implants abroad affordable?

In general, yes the procedure will be more affordable abroad and cost less in popular medical tourism locations like Turkey, you can find the cheapest All on 6 dental implants in Turkey, Poland, and Hungary. But there are some factors that affect the all on 6 dental implant costs like the location of the clinics, the surgeon's experience, and the technique used.

I had a wonderful experience booking my dental work with Flymedi. I needed a fair amount of work done and was required to visit twice but luckily the clinic was so hygienic and professional that it was a no-brainer to return. The dentist was great, he explained the procedure very clearly and I knew exactly what was going to happen in each session. The procedure itself was totally painless which was a first for me having had bad experiences with dentists in the past so that was really encouraging. I would highly recommend Flymedi's services as they exceeded my expectations (:

I was considering several different options, however Abud was by far the most committed and helpful of all the agents I'd been in discussions with. Everything was organised for me and I was guided throughout and if I was feeling apprehensive about anything or had any questions Abud was always on hand to answer my questions and give reassurances. I'm so happy with the results of my operation and I was left overwhelmed by how friendly and supportive everyone was throughout. If you're considering using flymedi then I can honestly say you'll be delighted with the service both before during and after your surgery.
