Total knee replacement surgery, also known as total knee arthroplasty is a type of orthopedic procedure usually performed when any of the knee’s 3 main cartilage structures are damaged from injury or disease.
Most of the time for the patients who are suffering from osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, meniscus tears, cartilage defects or ligament tears, total knee replacement surgery is performed.
For about 70% of the patients, total knee replacement operation is performed, and for the other patient's partial knee replacement surgery is performed, or alternative treatments are chosen which can be stem cells, minimally invasive knee surgery or weight loss programs.
For the patients who are suffering from meniscus tears, cartilage tears, ligament tears, knee trauma or disease, psoriatic arthritis, and rheumatic arthritis, total knee replacement operation is suggested.
