Breast lift in Thailand

A breast lift in Thailand raises and reshapes a breast that has dropped, on its own or combined with implants, a reduction or a tummy tuck, sold as a package in Thai baht by hospitals in Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya. This page explains what decides the price, what a package covers, how the scar patterns differ, what implants add, how to check a surgeon who does lifts rather than only augmentations, how the trip runs and what aftercare at home looks like.

Breast lift in Thailand

A breast lift, or mastopexy, raises a breast that has dropped after pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss or simply time: the nipple is moved up, the surplus skin is removed and the tissue is reshaped. It does not add volume. Many patients who ask for a lift in Thailand have it combined with implants, or with a reduction, or with a tummy tuck as part of a so-called mummy makeover, and the package price in Thai baht depends on which of those it is.

Thai plastic surgery hospitals place far more implants than they do lifts, because the patients they see most have small breasts and little sagging, so the question to settle first is how many lifts on breasts like yours the surgeon does in a year. This page explains what decides the price, what a package covers, how the scar patterns differ and why the surgeon chooses one over another, what a lift with implants adds in cost and in risk, how the trip runs and what aftercare in Australia, New Zealand or the United Kingdom looks like, so the prices in the clinic listing below can be read properly.

  • Compare what a quote covers

Every clinic on this page shows its current price with a note of what it includes. A lift alone, a lift with implants and a lift with a reduction are three different operations, and the note says which one is priced.
  • Ask for lifts on breasts like yours

Thai surgeons do many augmentations and fewer lifts. Ask how many mastopexies the surgeon does a year and to see healed results at a year on post-pregnancy or post-weight-loss breasts.
  • Board, licence, accreditation

Thai Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery for the surgeon, a Ministry of Public Health licence for the facility, and hospital accreditation you can verify.
  • A week or more before you fly

Stay until the surgeon has checked the incisions, removed any drains and cleared you to fly, usually about a week after surgery and longer if a tummy tuck is combined.

Why people fly to Thailand for a breast lift, and what to weigh

The large private hospitals in Bangkok and the plastic surgery hospitals of Phuket and Pattaya have plastic surgeons who do breast surgery every week, theatres and wards set up for general anaesthesia, and international departments used to patients who arrive with photographs and a return flight booked. The whole package, including a night in hospital and the visits until you fly, is usually priced before you travel, and a lift can be combined with implants, a reduction or a tummy tuck in one admission.

The other side of the ledger is specific to a lift. The result depends on a surgeon's judgement about your skin, your nipple position and how much tissue there is to reshape, and you are making that choice from photographs and a video call. The scars are the price of the operation and they are managed over a year, not a week, by someone who will not be in Thailand. And a wound problem at the junction of the scars, the commonest complication of a lift, tends to appear after you are home. Thailand is a reasonable choice for a healthy patient who can stay for the check-ups and has a doctor lined up at home; it is a poor one for anyone who cannot.

The cost of a breast lift in Thailand

The price is a package in Thai baht, and it moves with what is actually done. Each clinic on this page shows its current price with a note of what it covers, and that is the figure to compare, because a quote for a lift alone and a quote for a lift with implants are not quotes for the same operation.

  • Lift alone, lift with implants or lift with reduction. A lift alone is the shortest of the three. Adding implants adds the implant cost and theatre time; combining a reduction adds time and a longer stay.
  • The scar pattern. A periareolar lift is a shorter operation than a vertical lift, and an anchor lift, which treats the most sagging, is the longest.
  • The implant brand, if implants are added. Motiva implants are priced above standard round silicone implants; Mentor sits between.
  • Anaesthetic and nights. General anaesthesia with a night in hospital costs more than sedation with same-day discharge; for a lift, the former is the usual and safer arrangement.
  • Hospital or clinic, and which city. A large Bangkok hospital with an international department charges more than a clinic; Phuket often sits between the two.
  • Primary or revision. Correcting a previous lift, or a lift after implants have been removed, costs more than a first operation.
  • The surgeon. Surgeons who do lifts and lift-with-implant cases every week charge more, and for this operation that is usually money well spent.

What is included in the price

A Thai package normally covers everything inside the hospital from the pre-operative tests to the last check-up before you fly. What it rarely covers is anything after you land at home, which for a lift means the months of scar care and the possibility of a wound that needs dressing. Get the contents in writing before paying a deposit.

  • Usually included. Consultation, blood tests, an ECG where the anaesthetist wants one, a mammogram or ultrasound before surgery for patients over a certain age, the surgeon and anaesthetist fees, the theatre, a night in hospital, medication, the surgical bra, dressing changes and the follow-up visits until you are cleared to fly.
  • Sometimes included. Hotel nights near the hospital, transfers, a nurse visit at the hotel and silicone sheets or gel for the scars.
  • Rarely included. Flights, travel insurance, a longer stay if a wound is slow, the implants when a lift with implants was not what was quoted, treatment of complications after you are home, and revision surgery with or without the flight back.
  • What the deposit buys. A date and a surgeon. Ask whether it is refunded if the examination in Thailand changes the plan or the price.

Instalment options for the whole trip are described on the payment plans page. The clinic listing on this page shows each clinic's current price with a note of what it covers, and that note is the thing to compare, not the headline figure.

What a breast lift does, and what it does not

A lift moves the nipple up to the level of the breast fold or above it, removes the skin that has stretched and tightens the tissue underneath so the breast sits higher and looks firmer. It suits breasts that have dropped and, if anything, makes them slightly smaller, because skin is removed and nothing is added. It does not fill the top of the breast, and it does not enlarge the breast. Patients who want fullness as well as height need implants or fat transfer with the lift; patients whose breasts are large and heavy as well as dropped need a lift with a reduction.

Surgeons judge how much lift is needed by where the nipple sits relative to the fold: level with it, a little below it, or well below it and pointing down. That grade, together with skin quality and breast size, decides the scar pattern, and the scar pattern decides most of what the operation costs and how it heals.

  • Periareolar lift. A scar around the areola only. For the mildest sagging, or to raise the nipple a little when implants are placed at the same time. It cannot lift very far and can widen the areola.
  • Vertical lift. A scar around the areola and straight down to the fold, the lollipop pattern. For moderate sagging; it reshapes the breast well and avoids the scar along the fold.
  • Anchor lift. Around the areola, down to the fold and along it, the inverted T. For marked sagging, large breasts and lifts combined with a reduction. The longest scar and the most reshaping.
  • Lift with implants. Any pattern plus an implant, usually under the muscle, in one operation or in two stages when the lift is large. Fullness and height together, at the cost of more revisions than either operation alone.

The combination pages describe the implant options in detail: breast lift with round implants and breast lift with teardrop implants. The central pedicle breast lift page covers one technique for keeping the nipple's blood supply, and the breast reduction in Thailand page is the right one if the breasts are heavy as well as dropped. For fullness without an implant, breast fat transfer can be added to a lift, and breast implants in Thailand covers implants on their own.

How to check a surgeon and a hospital in Thailand

Thailand licenses doctors and facilities separately. The surgeon should hold a licence from the Medical Council of Thailand and the Thai Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the specialist qualification issued through the Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand; membership of the Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of Thailand or the Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons of Thailand is a further sign of a surgeon trained in the specialty. It is the counterpart of checking a specialist plastic surgeon's registration with AHPRA or the GMC.

The facility should hold a Ministry of Public Health licence for surgery under general anaesthesia. Private hospitals in Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya commonly carry Hospital Accreditation from Thailand's Healthcare Accreditation Institute, and several also hold Joint Commission International accreditation. A lift, and above all a lift with implants or a reduction, belongs in a hospital with a physician anaesthetist, a recovery unit and a ward, not in a clinic licensed for local anaesthetic procedures.

  • Ask for the surgeon's full name and licence number and look them up in the Medical Council of Thailand register before paying anything.
  • Ask how many lifts the surgeon does in a year, separately from augmentations, and how many of them on Western patients after pregnancy or weight loss.
  • Ask for healed photographs at a year, from the front and both sides, of breasts that started like yours, and look at the scars and the areolas as closely as the shape.
  • Ask which scar pattern is proposed and why, and which pedicle will carry the nipple; a surgeon who cannot explain that in plain words is not the one to choose.
  • Ask who gives the anaesthetic and where you sleep the first night. A named physician anaesthetist and a ward bed.
  • Ask what happens if a wound opens at the scar junction or a revision is needed, who treats it, what it costs and whether the surgeon's fee is waived.

Bangkok, Phuket or Pattaya

Bangkok has the large private hospitals with international departments and most of the surgeons with overseas fellowships, which matters for a lift with implants or a lift with a reduction. Phuket has a plastic surgery hospital of its own and general hospitals long used to Australian and New Zealand patients, with direct flights from several Australian cities. Pattaya has a large hospital used to international breast patients, and Chiang Mai a handful of serious surgeons.

Wherever you go, the recovery is not a beach holiday. Sun on a fresh scar darkens it for good, and the scars of a lift are long; heat prolongs swelling; salt water and pools are off limits until the surgeon says otherwise; and the arms stay below the shoulders for the first days. Plan the sightseeing for the days before surgery.

The journey, step by step

  1. Online consultation with photographs

Front and both sides, standing, in a plain bra and without, with your height, weight, bra size, pregnancies, breastfeeding, weight history and whether you plan more children. The surgeon should reply with a scar pattern, a view on implants and a reason, not only a price.
  2. Arrival and examination

A day or two before surgery: examination and measurements, blood tests, the anaesthetic assessment and, for patients over a certain age, a mammogram or ultrasound if you have not had one. This is where the plan and the price are confirmed and where you can still walk away for the cost of the deposit.
  3. The operation

Under general anaesthesia, a few hours depending on the pattern and whether implants or a reduction are combined. You wake in a surgical bra, sometimes with drains, and stay a night on the ward in most packages.
  4. The first days

Swelling, bruising and a tight, sore chest that settles over the first week. Sleep propped up, walk often, do not lift, keep the dressings dry and the arms below the shoulders. Most patients move to a hotel near the hospital after the first night.
  5. Check-up and clearance to fly

Around a week after surgery the surgeon removes any drains, checks the incisions, above all where the scars meet under the breast, and clears you to fly. A slow wound means staying longer, which is why the return flight should be changeable.
  6. Home and the long tail

The breasts sit high and boxy at first and settle over months; the scars are red for months and fade over a year with silicone sheets and no sun. Send photographs at the agreed points, and see a doctor at home the same day for a wound that opens, fever, spreading redness or a nipple that changes colour.

Flying home and aftercare in Australia, New Zealand or the UK

The flight itself is rarely the problem once you are cleared; the problems are the ones that declare themselves in the weeks after. The scar junction under the breast can open and need dressings for weeks, a seroma or haematoma can appear, an infection can start after you land, and the scars need a year of care. Medicare, the New Zealand public system and the NHS will treat an emergency, an infection or a bleed like any other patient's. They will not correct a cosmetic result, and private health funds normally exclude complications of elective surgery overseas. Ask your fund in writing before you book.

Arrange the doctor who will see you before you leave: a specialist plastic surgeon or breast surgeon for the breasts, your GP for fever or infection, and a practice nurse who can dress a wound if the junction opens. Take the English operative report with you, naming the pattern, the pedicle, any implants with their serial numbers and the sutures used. Some surgeons at home decline to revise another surgeon's lift, so ask when you book the appointment, not after a problem appears.

Who should not have a breast lift in Thailand

  • Anyone who cannot stay until the surgeon clears them to fly, or who has no one to help in the first days.
  • Anyone who is pregnant, breastfeeding, planning a pregnancy or still losing weight, because the breast will change and the lift with it; a lift comes after the last baby and at a stable weight.
  • Smokers who will not stop well before surgery, because the nipple and the scar junction depend on a blood supply that smoking closes down.
  • Anyone with an untreated breast lump, a strong family history of breast cancer not discussed with a doctor, or a bleeding disorder or blood thinners that cannot be paused.
  • Anyone who will not accept scars, or who expects a lift alone to add fullness at the top of the breast.
  • Anyone under pressure from someone else to have it done, or chasing a photograph rather than a version of their own body.

The next steps if you plan to have a breast lift in Thailand

  1. Compare the clinics on this page by what the price covers and which operation it is for, then shortlist two or three.
  2. Send the same photographs and questions to each and judge the answers by whether they name a scar pattern, a surgeon and a written list of inclusions.
  3. Look up the surgeon and the hospital in the Medical Council of Thailand register and the accreditation lists before paying a deposit.
  4. Ask your health fund and your GP at home, in writing, what happens if you come back with an open wound or a complication, and who will see you.
  5. Book changeable flights, a companion for the first days and a hotel near the hospital, and stop smoking and blood-thinning supplements well in advance as instructed.
  6. Take the operative report and, if implants were placed, the implant card home, and book your first check-up at home before you fly out.

If you are weighing Thailand against Turkey, the breast lift in Turkey page describes a market built around European patients with shorter flights from the UK. The breast lift abroad page compares the destinations, the tummy tuck in Thailand page covers the operation most often combined with a lift, and the plastic surgery in Thailand hub lists the rest.

I did a lift with implants and felt supported throughout the process. The surgeon explained scar placement and expected healing time. The results look balanced and natural, and follow-ups were thorough. The staff made me feel comfortable and respected.

I could go on and on for days about my experience at Wansiri hospital. I’m from America, and for years I’ve always wanted a breast reduction/lift. However never was comfortable with the suggestion of surgeons back home. After being in Thailand for almost a year, I muster up the courage to finally start my journey towards getting the surgery. I’ve always desired. From the moment I decided to book with Wansiri Hospital, everything was just so smooth. The staff at medical departures that helped me navigate booking, all the staff at Wansiri hospital treated me with the upmost care. Especially since I came to get my surgery alone without any supports. The facility looks like a five star resort, the staff are extremely hospitable (Especially Bon!! Truly was such a great help and joy to meet) and really put patient care first. My surgeon Dr. Kasemsak IS AMAZING! His work truly speaks for itself. I’m only 2 weeks PO and I’m loving my results. I was so nervous, but truthfully Surgery was a breeze, my nurses were so sweet, and i was discharged with very minimal pain! I was well taken care of and supported. I HIGHLY recommended Wansiri hospital, if i ever desire surgery in the future I’ll definitely be coming back! THANK YOU AGAIN!

Frequently asked questions

Answers from the medical content team, reviewed by the medical reviewer named on this page.

How much is a breast lift in Thailand?
It is a package price in Thai baht that depends on whether it is a lift alone, a lift with implants or a lift with a reduction, on the scar pattern, the implant brand if any, general anaesthesia and nights, the hospital and city and the surgeon. Each clinic on this page shows its current price with a note of what it covers. Add flights, hotel nights, insurance and a reserve for scar care and aftercare at home for the real total.
How much does a breast lift with implants cost in Thailand?
More than a lift alone: the implants are added to the package, the operation is longer, and Motiva implants are priced above standard silicone. Compare the clinic listing's prices by what they cover, and check that the quote names the implant brand and model.
Is Thailand a good place to get a breast lift?
For a healthy patient at a stable weight who has finished having children, can stay for the check-ups and has a doctor lined up at home, yes, provided the surgeon does lifts regularly and not only augmentations. It is a poor choice for anyone who cannot stay or has no plan for a wound that needs dressing after they get home.
Where can I get a breast implant and lift in Thailand?
In the large private hospitals of Bangkok, the plastic surgery hospital and general hospitals of Phuket, and the hospital in Pattaya used to international patients. The clinic listing on this page shows which clinics offer the combination and at what price; the surgeon's lift experience matters more than the city.
Is a breast lift safe in Thailand?
Licensed Thai hospitals are audited against published standards, but the safety of a lift depends on the surgeon, the anaesthetist and the facility. Check the Medical Council licence, the Thai Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the hospital licence and its accreditation, and confirm a physician anaesthetist gives the general anaesthetic.
How long do I need to stay in Thailand after a breast lift?
Until the surgeon has removed any drains, checked the scar junction and cleared you to fly, usually about a week after surgery, plus a day or two before it. A lift combined with a tummy tuck means a longer stay. Book a changeable return.
Will a breast lift leave visible scars?
Yes. Around the areola at least, often down to the fold and sometimes along it. They are red for months and fade over a year with silicone sheets and no sun; they can widen or thicken, more so in darker skin. Look at the scars in a surgeon's healed photographs, not only the shape.
Do I need implants with a breast lift?
Only if you want fullness at the top of the breast as well as height. A lift alone raises and reshapes; it does not add volume and may reduce cup size slightly. Fat transfer is the alternative to an implant for a modest increase.
Can I have a breast lift and a tummy tuck together in Thailand?
Yes, the combination is common and often called a mummy makeover. It is a longer operation with a longer stay and a harder first week, and it needs a companion and a hospital with a ward, not a clinic.
Can I breastfeed after a breast lift?
Often, but not always, and no surgeon can promise it. The pedicle that carries the nipple is chosen partly to protect the ducts and nerves, which is why the operation belongs after the last pregnancy.
Will a breast lift last?
The nipple stays where it was moved, but skin keeps ageing and gravity keeps working, so some drop returns over the years, sooner with large implants, weight changes or pregnancy. A second lift years later is possible.
Bangkok or Phuket for a breast lift?
Bangkok has more surgeons with overseas fellowships and larger hospitals, which counts for lifts with implants or reduction. Phuket has a plastic surgery hospital and direct flights from Australia. Choose the surgeon by lift experience first and the city second.
Is Turkey or Thailand better for a breast lift?
Both sell packages that cover the hospital side. From Australia and New Zealand Thailand is the shorter trip; from the United Kingdom Turkey is, and Turkish clinics are built around European patients. Compare the surgeon and what each package covers rather than the country.
What happens if the wound opens after I get home?
Contact the surgeon with photographs and see a doctor at home the same day; a practice nurse can dress a small breakdown at the scar junction until it heals, which can take weeks. Emergency care is provided; correcting the scar later is not, and a revision means another trip or full price at home. Ask the hospital in writing what it covers before you book.
Will my breasts look natural after a lift?
That depends on the pattern, the pedicle and the surgeon's judgement about how much to lift and whether to add volume, not on the country. Healed photographs at a year on breasts that started like yours are the evidence.
