Dental Bonding
Dental veneers are thin covers that are specially crafted to fit your tooth, to correct aesthetic issues. Veneers are typically made from ceramic or composite resin materials, which are then bonded to your teeth with specially formulated dental cement.
If you are undergoing a veneer procedure at your local dentist, the process may take a few weeks to complete. But if you travel abroad for the treatment, it will only take 5 to 10 days to complete the surgery.
We understand that every patient is different, so we carefully plan your trip from A-Z and we hook you up with an expert dentist who can customize the procedure so as to suit your preferences, goals, and expectations as well as the dental clinic’s best practices.
When you arrive at the clinic, you will have a face-to-face consultation with your dentist. They will examine your teeth and then will decide if veneers are suitable for you. Sometimes patients think they need veneers when there is another procedure that is perfect for their condition.
During the one-on-one consultation session with your dentist, they will inform you about the details of the Veneers procedure.
However, foreign patients are required to send photos of their teeth as well as dental history before they even travel. After examining the photos, you will have a detailed discussion about the whole procedure with your dentist. Once you both agree on details, the dentist will start to prepare you for the procedure.
When preparing the porcelain veneers procedure, your dentist takes an impression of each of the teeth to determine the final shape and look. These impressions are then used by a laboratory to custom-make the porcelain shells that will be cemented to the teeth.
After the final custom shells are received from the lab, your dentist carefully removes a very thin layer (usually less than a millimeter) of original enamel from the surface of each tooth.
This is done for creating a roughened surface on the front of the teeth that will bond easily to the cement, allowing the porcelain veneer to sit flush against the natural tooth and not to appear protruding abnormally.
Finally, your dentist will use a special light to harden the cement quickly in-office, this allows you to use your new teeth as soon as the procedure finishes. After this precise work, you can even start eating normally once you leave your last procedure appointment.
After cementing your porcelain veneers, it may take a few days to get used to your new look and smile.
The way your bites and teeth come together may feel different, especially if the length, shape, or thickness of your teeth have been changed. If your bites feel unstable, be sure to call your dentist for an appointment to make the necessary adjustments.
The first few days after the treatment is completed, you should avoid excessive heat or cold food and drink.
If your gums have been reshaped during treatment, there may be some sensitivity after the effect of anesthesia is over. It can help rinse with warm saline to remove sensitivity. A prescribed analgesic, such as Tylenol or Advil, can also improve your comfort.
In order to prolong your porcelain veneers and your new smile, it is important to remember that the underlying teeth are still vulnerable to decay, especially in the gum line where the tooth and veneer meet. Therefore, it is important to continue oral hygiene habits immediately, such as regular brushing and flossing.
Also, the temporaries are placed with cement that is designed to remove easily before the permanent veneers are placed, so you should avoid chewing sticky foods such as gum.
You may use your toothbrush to clean the temporaries as you regularly do for your natural teeth.
If your gums have been reshaped during treatment, there may be some sensitivity after the effect of anesthesia is over. It can help rinse with warm saline to remove sensitivity.
A week before the procedure, you should stop taking Aspirin and any other meds associated with blood thinning.
If you are allergic to any drugs, you should inform your surgeon as soon as possible.
Patients are advised to avoid smoking 24 hours before the surgery.
Consuming any alcoholic beverages can affect anesthesia. So you should not take in anything alcoholic 24 hours prior to surgery.
If you are taking meds for chronic or acute diseases such as diabetes and heart disease, you should inform your surgeon before the surgery commences.
