Lip augmentation surgery is a cosmetic procedure that is frequently used by women who have thin lips and want to have fuller and plumper lips or who are in need correction of their gummy smile through the use of dermal fillers, lip implants, and other different types of materials.

Permanent lip augmentation has gained a lot of popularity among patients since the 2000s – newer, more effective techniques and materials have been developed and the procedure itself became more patient-friendly.

Lip augmentation options include:

  • Lip augmentation with fat transfer – The surgeons use fat harvested through liposuction to inject the patient’s lips

  • Permanent lip augmentation by using implants – Lip implants can improve the volume

  • Lip augmentation with dermal fillers– This is the most popular choice and can improve the shape, structure and volume of the lips.

The main benefits of using dermal fillers include:

  • Less bruising after the procedure is complete

  • Results last relatively long, although not necessarily permanent

  • Providing better control over the lip volume

  • It can be injected gradually until the desired look is achieved

  • Any bumps or lumps in the lips can be dissolved with ease

This procedure is recommended for all women or men who are dissatisfied with the volume, structure, or shape of their lips.

What is Lip Augmentation?

Lip augmentation surgery or lip implant surgery is not recommended for patients allergic to lidocaine or dermal fillers. Patients should be in good general health before surgery. Individuals with an active infection near the lip area should not have this procedure. Those who have lupus or diabetes, or with blood clotting problems also may not be good candidates for lip augmentation.

Before the Lip Augmentation Procedure

Blood thinners, herbal supplements, anti-inflammatory drugs, and herbal teas need to be avoided at least 2 weeks before the procedure can begin. Patients should also quit smoking at least 2-3 weeks before and after the process. Following the surgeon’s instructions is very important both before and after the lip augmentation procedure.

How Does Lip Augmentation Procedure Work?

The content of lip enlargement surgery depends primarily on the technique used. Most procedures do not require incision and are performed under local anesthesia. The only exception is the fat injection that requires general anesthesia for liposuction.

The technique using dermal fillers is the simplest – After local anesthesia is applied to the patient, the surgeon marks the areas where the fillers will be injected. A very small needle is used to inject the dermal fillers into the lips from the marked areas. The surgeon may also make fine adjustments when the main injection is finished.

Lip Augmentation Recovery

Lipstick or other lip cosmetic products are forbidden for a few days after the lip augmentation surgery. Ice or cold packs can be applied to the lips area to reduce and ease swelling and discomfort. Patients should avoid putting any pressure on the lips for a few days following the surgery.

Lip Augmentation Side Effects

Lip augmentation surgery risks and complications can include:

  • Prolonged bruising and swelling
  • Lips asymmetry
  • Irregularities and lumps in the lips
  • Infection
  • Scarring and stiffness
  • Ulceration
  • Allergic reaction to lidocaine or dermal fillers
  • Bleeding

Lip augmentation surgery side effects can include:

  • Swelling
  • Allergic reactions
  • Itching
  • Redness
  • Tenderness
  • Lumps and irregularities in the lip

Lip Augmentation Results

Lip augmentation reviews set the average treatment success rate at 89%.

Patients can see results immediately after the procedure is over. The swelling will slowly subside during the first few days after the procedure. Depending on the persistence of the technique used, patients may need to undergo further treatment within a few months to maintain their results. The success of the results mainly depends on the surgeon’s skill and experience. There are some cities in Europe, such as Istanbul or Budapesthave many skilled surgeons performing lip augmentation procedures with high satisfaction rates and more affordable prices.

What is  Permalip Lip Implants?

The permalip lip implant procedure is a new approach to enhancing the lips via implants. The lip implants are made of non-rupture soft silicon and do not wear out and lose their effectiveness over time.

Especially women who are in need or want to enjoy long-term full lips are the best candidates for Permalip lip implants. This procedure is also recommended for people who do not want to renew constantly the effect of their lip augmentation procedures such as dermal lip fillers and Botox.

Permalip lip implants will be a good solution for those who want to have plumper lips without repeating lip surgeries and for those who will not have problems with their general health.

Similarly, to other cosmetic surgeries, patients will be asked to stop taking blood thinners such as aspirin and anti-inflammatory drugs or herbal supplements before the Permalip lip surgery. Since the incision is performed during the Permalip lip implant procedure.

How Does Permalip Lip Implants Works

The permalip lip implant procedure is simple. Surgeons make a small incision on the side of the lips under local anesthesia. They widen a pocket in which they insert the lip implants. Then, stitches are placed, the recovery period is begun, and patients will be free to go home.

Permalip Lip Implants Recovery

Permalip lip implants do not require an extensive recovery period. Since this lip surgery causes lip swelling, some patients prefer to take one or two days off work. Discomfort is generally minimal and arises from edema and bruising, which can last up to a week. It is better to continue taking prescribed medicines such as antibiotics and use ice and cold packs to reduce swelling.

Since it is a minimally invasive procedure involving incisions, Permalip lip implants may cause an infection. However, with proper use of antibiotics and antivirals, this risk is minimalized. Once sutures have dissolved and incision sites are fully recovered, patients need to regularly perform stretching and tightening exercises for 2-3 months to facilitate the healing process, allowing the lips to acclimate to all the normal motion and maintain capsule length.

In addition to first swelling and partial numbness, Permalip lip implants have no significant side effects. Any abnormal changes observed should be reported to doctors who know how to deal with them

Permalip Lip Implants Surgery Results

Permalip lip implants have a very high success rate because they are simple and useful. There are thousands of success stories and good reviews all over the world, and Permalip lip implants are increasingly becoming an alternative to temporary solutions such as lip fillers and Botox.

With Permalip lip implants, patients enjoy their new lips that are plump and shaped without repeating temporary lip plump procedures.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How Long Does Lip Augmentation Last?

The permanence of the results varies depending on the technique used. Lip implants can be used for permanent lip enhancement. The results of lip enhancement with hyaluronic acid fillers usually last between 6 and 12 months.

Is Lip Augmentation Painful?

The procedure itself is not painful since strong sedation is applied in the lip area. However, some patients may have more sensitive lips than others, so this may depend on the patient.

Are There Any Alternatives to Lip Augmentation Surgery?

Yes, but these alternatives do not provide the same long-term results as lip augmentation. Lip plumper is a cosmetic product that provides temporary swelling by irritating the lips. Suction pumps can also be applied to the lips to increase blood pressure to make them appear bigger temporarily.

What is the Difference between Permalip Lip Implants and Lip Fillers?

Even the most durable and preferred lip fillers enhance the look of your lips just for around two years and then dissolve, and you will need to undergo another filler injection to maintain your results. In the case of Permalip lip implants, the effect is permanent and more natural.

What if I Get Bored of Permalip Lip Implants?

It is possible to remove Permalip lip implants without any damage to your lips.

Why is the Cost of Permalip Lip Implants So High?

Permalip lip implants cost is relatively high due to the specific kind of non-rupture silicone implants used in this lip surgery. Additionally, please do not forget that the price of Permalip lip implants includes permanent effects, so it is given once, but its effect lasts for many years.
