Teardrop breast implants (or anatomical implants) nowadays get the greatest attention among breast implant types. The name “teardrop implants” comes from the fact that, unlike round breast implants, they have a teardrop-like shape, which is thought to be anatomically closer to natural breasts. Although teardrop-shaped breast implants were not very popular when it was first introduced, they have been favored more than ever when it becomes fully filled so that it retains their teardrop shape whether the patient is lying down or standing upright.

Natural-looking Breast Augmentation

Teardrop implants are more and more popular in breast augmentation surgeries due to their closer resemblance to the real ones. That caused many specialists to call such a breast surgery a "natural breast enlargement." This option becomes preferable, especially for women seeking less fullness in the upper part of the breast, as well as a more natural droop to the bottom half.

As the years pass, patients deciding for breast enhancement put increasing emphasis on a natural look after the boob job. For this reason, teardrop-shaped breast implants became a top choice for many women, especially, for those who prefer a “mommy makeover” which includes more than one procedure to regain the body appearance prior to the pregnancy.

Is Breast Enlargement Without Surgery a Better Choice?

Breast enlargement without surgery is possible only to some degree. Women may try some of those options, but if somebody wants large breasts or at least a significant breast increase, natural breast enhancement without breast implants is not possible. Besides, teardrop breast implants or round breast implants are the only solutions for women wanting to increase breast size. There are other breast enhancement options like fat transfer to the breast and breast lift surgeries. Still, many women achieve breast increase with different types of breast implants, counting on their lasting effects.

Saline Implants vs. Silicone Implants vs. Gummy Bear Implants

Both saline implants and silicone implants are extremely popular among doctors performing breast augmentation surgeries. Still, as for which one is the best of breast implant types remains a matter of dispute. There is also a new player in this game: gummy bear breast implants. They are a type of silicone implant, while their structure is more cohesive and provides a tissue-like feeling when touched. There are differences between silicone, saline, and gummy bear implants, and they each have their own distinct advantages and disadvantages for a variety of cases. Each patient should consult with her surgeon after a complete examination and discuss which implant option makes the most sense for her body proportion, breast shape, and expectations.

While teardrop-shaped breast implants have a natural look and are often used in breast implant surgery, they have some disadvantages, similar to round breast implants. For example, they may leak or break, leading to the necessity of medical intervention with time. Women with breast implants need to pay attention to symptoms of leakage/breakage of their implants. The teardrop breast implants should have a textured surface in order to avoid freely rotating, and this is not something to worry about with round implants. And between these two shapes, it is usually the teardrop that costs more.
