Due to aging, the volume of the lips decreases, and their appearance becomes thinner and flatter. Wrinkles and fine lines change their smooth appearance and their outlines are less defined, especially at the upper lip level. Young women can also need a miracle touch without waiting for the effects of aging to have lips that are fuller, well-shaped and suitable for applying lipstick.

Lip augmentation is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure for plumping thin lips. It is a fact that people whose lips are full and shaped look younger. Lip augmentation procedures can be done with surgical implants or fat transfers, as well as - more often - by injections of dermal fillers. Lip augmentation with dermal fillers has been popular for years, but recently it has become fashionable and with the increase in demand there has been a real boom in applications.

In short, lip augmentation may be your number one need if you want to have more contoured, fuller lips to make your smile more attractive, to look good in photos,

Who Is This For?

  • Healthy individuals whose lips have always been thin and seem to disappear when they smile
  • Individuals whose lips have become thinner and less full with age
  • Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should wait for awhile
  • Individuals who have a history of severe allergies should not have this treatment

Treatment Duration

30 minutes

Potential Risks & Side Effects

The probability of complications is extremely low. This is because hyaluronic acid is produced and present in the human body and that the drugs used are biosynthesized, but there is always a risk of the following side effects:

  • Bleeding
  • Swelling and bruising
  • Redness and tenderness
  • Pain
  • Excessive lip volume than desired
  • Asymmetry of the lips
  • Allergy
  • Herpes due to an infection

Recovery Time

The non-surgical lip augmentation procedure has no recovery period. You can return to your normal life right after the injection. (In the case of lip implant or fat transfer, recovery time can take up to two weeks after the surgery.)

Success Rate: 95%

Alternative Treatments

  • Fat transfer
  • Lip Implant
  • Topical Lip Plumpers

How Does it Work?

The injections will give a luscious appearance to the lip, creating volume according to demand. The result of the procedure can be seen immediately after its performed.

The most important thing is to get a natural result, so don't over-puff your lips. Dermal fillers make the lips plumper without surgery and redesign the lip, giving it a contoured shape. Plumping the lips with hyaluronic acid injections can also correct vertical lines or wrinkles at the ends of the mouth.

You may notice the visual effect immediately after the injection. In general, the following positive changes can be achieved:

  • Creation of a smooth natural outline, elimination of the asymmetry of the region of the mouth
  • Increase the elasticity of the skin
  • Removing wrinkles around the mouth, lifting the corners of the lips
  • Creating an attractive volume for the lips
  • Hydrate the skin by retaining water molecules
  • Masking of minor faults
  • Stimulation of self-rejuvenation processes

What Does a Lip Augmentation Surgery Involve?

1.       Consultation for Lip Augmentation

You will take an online consultation to make sure that you’re a suitable candidate for the Lip Augmentation surgery. During this consultation, your complaints and story will be learned in detail and you will be asked if you have had any current health condition that may affect the procedure or any allergy you have. Our specialist prefers to see your photos showing your lips to determine the symmetry and shape of your lips. Thus, they can better evaluate your case and prepare a customized plan for you.

In light of all the information you provide, your eligibility will be understood clearly and if you want to continue the process, the second phase will begin.

2.       Planning Your Trip and Choosing the Clinic

This is the stage where you choose one of the clinics and surgeons we offer you depending on your needs and expectations and once you decided we arrange the date and trip plan that suits you upon your preferred clinic/surgeon.

3.       Final Consultation with Your Surgeon

When you arrive at the clinic, you will have a face-to-face consultation with your Lip Augmentation surgeon. Everything about your surgery will be discussed between you and your surgeon during this consultation. The surgeon will ask you some questions to try to understand your expectations and goals better and also make you understand what you should expect from your treatment and the potential risks or complications of the procedure. You will also decide together the individualized surgical and recovery plan that can be followed after the surgery. The surgeon will explain the whole process clearly and try to simulate it as much as possible, in order you to feel comfortable and well-prepared.

4.       Medical Examinations

Before the surgery begins, your surgeon will conduct physical and blood tests to make sure that you are in acceptable health status for the lip augmentation procedure. Every patient is required to undergo medical tests to ensure that nothing can hinder the success of the surgery and if any risk obtained, surgeons aim to eliminate them first.

5.       Procedure

The last step is to attend the injections session to have a well-shaped and augmented lips as you desire with the help of experienced and successful health providers.

The method is based on the introduction of a special load of hyaluronic acid along the outline and the pink part of the lips. This substance is a polysaccharide which is actively produced by the human body. This is why the risk of complications in the form of adverse reactions is minimal.

The whole process takes about half an hour and looks like this:

  • During the consultation with a specialist, the type of preparation and the volume of future manipulations are determined.
  • An anesthetic cream is applied to the treated area or an anesthetic injection is made in the gums.
  • Hyaluronic acid injections are carried out along the lip contour, for a uniform distribution of the load, the injection sites are stretched with the fingers.
  • To create a volume of anti-aging drug is injected into the pink part of the lips, at the end of the procedure, the doctor should do a massage.
  •  If necessary, a week or two of correction is made by the additional introduction of hyaluronic acid.

What Should I Expect from Lip Augmentation?

The most common problem after the lip augmentation procedure is swelling. It is a completely natural reaction of the body due to the entry of foreign substances from the outside and the reason is the accumulation of water in the tissues that are interfered with. The following conditions affect the duration of the swelling:

  • Type of drug used
  • Compliance with antiseptic standards
  •  Patient-specific characteristics

In most cases, twelve hours after the procedure there is a slight swelling and it may increase and then subside in 2-3 days.

If the lips continue to swell, there is pain, itching, general worsening, it may be a manifestation of an allergy or an inflammatory reaction. It is necessary to consult a doctor immediately, as the situation can always be corrected without any particular difficulties.

Another problem is the hematoma. They are the result of tissue damage. Bruising occurs due to the violation of the integrity of the blood vessels, as well as when the injected substance is compressed. They can stay for about a week, the bruise will go away completely with the swelling.

Although dermal fillers make your lips look the way you desire, it should not be forgotten that it is not a permanent solution. Most fillers last between six to ten months and may be repeated as its effect passes.

Things You Should Consider After Lip Augmentation

There are situations where a few days should be avoided after lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid:

  • Do not apply lipstick for two or three days
  • Stay away from solarium, sauna, pool and a hot bath for the first week after the procedure (or during your doctor's recommended period)
  • Doctors also recommend avoiding kissing, not drinking hot stuff, not eating hot food, and not smoking a few days after injections.

Is Lip Augmentation Procedure Painful?

You may feel pain or tenderness after the procedure is done. However, your doctor may prescribe painkillers to relieve this pain and discomfort.

Does Lip Augmentation Leave a Scar?

There will be no scar after the non-surgical lip augmentation procedure.

How Is The Lip Implants Procedure Performed?

Lip implants are alternative to temporary dermal fillers for lip augmentation as a more permanent option. During your consultation, your surgeon will first determine what size lip implant would be best according to your face proportion and your expectations. On the day of the surgery, the skin is sterilized and the lips are anesthetized. Then an incision is made in each corner of the mouth. The surgeon inserts the implant through a tunnel created using a tool called a curved alligator clamp. Then the implant is positioned underneath the lip fat and above the lip muscles. Once the implants are in place as desired, the surgeon closes the incisions with one or two absorbable sutures.

Hi, I just recently had surgery and before I could decide the best safest choice for me. I googled a lot! Came across Flymedi and they made the overseas surgery bookings including hotel so much easier. My health consultant is very kind and sweet and still after the surgery, she still checks up on me. I am very satisfied with the results of the surgery and the clinic that they chose! This is mainly for those like me who want to have a certain surgery done that perhaps don't exist in the country you reside in. Flymedi helped me with finding a fit clinic, booked hotel and driver to pick me up and also drop me off to all the destinations such as the Airport. I had this surgery in late November 2019 in Istanbul, I highly recommend Flymedi to anyone who wants to be safe, satisfied and happy! Thank You to Fatima at Flymedi for all her help and Big Thank You to Flymedi for existing! You've definitely made this surgery and journey for me much more easy and comfortable!
