  • Numbness
  • Pain
  • Scarring
  • Anesthesia risks

Piezo Rhinoplasty Recovery Time

Recovery is faster with the piezo technique. Because it does not damage the soft tissue surrounding blood vessels and cartilages. You can return to your daily life faster.

In the first week, you will notice significantly less bruising and swelling than traditional rhinoplasty techniques. The nose will be covered with a splint to keep the nasal bone in position. It will be removed after the first week.

In the second week after surgery, swelling and bruising begin to fade. You may return to work and social activities at this stage. But avoid demanding activities for 3 to 6 weeks.

About a month after the surgery, you'll look and feel healed. After 2-3 months, you may still feel numbness at the tip of the nose. This is normal and gradually begins to fade. The swelling will go away over the next 6 months after the surgery. Seeing the final result of the surgery may take up to a year.

Success Rate:

Piezo rhinoplasty has a success rate of 90%.

How Does it Work?

Piezo rhinoplasty is the technical name for ultrasonic rhinoplasty. The procedure uses ultrasonic energy to reshape the nasal bones. Compared to the traditional method that used hammer and chisel. Piezotome is the instrument used to generate ultrasonic energy (A frequency of 25 to 29 kHz) to cut and shape the nasal bones. It reduces the bleeding, bruising, swelling and gives faster recovery.

The piezo device for the rhinoplasty procedure is more precise when carving the bone. And doesn't damage the surrounding soft tissue like skin, mucosa, and flimsy cartilages.

The Piezotome device comes with different sculpting attachments used in the procedure.

We will ask you to send your photos as shown in the Photography Guide below to evaluate your case for your online consultation.

What Does Piezo Rhinoplasty Surgery Involve?

We will plan and arrange the procedure to suit your personal preferences, needs and match you with the best piezo rhinoplasty specialist available in Turkey. There are a few primary steps involved in this procedure. Here is what you can expect:

Anesthesia

We have many clinics that specialize in Piezo Rhinoplasty surgery. And they offer various types of anesthesia, such as:

  • Local anesthesia
  • IV Sedation
  • General Anesthesia

Your surgeon will decide on the type of anesthesia best suits your needs and medical condition.

The Surgical Process

  • Once you are anesthetized, the surgeon will start the procedure.
  • Your surgeon will make tiny incisions between or inside your nostrils.
  • After the incisions are made, the surgeon will separate your skin from the cartilage or bone and reshape the nasal bone.
  • Once the underlying bone structure of your nose is reshaped. The surgeon will close the nasal skin tissues and suture the incisions.
  • The surgeon may place a plastic or metal splint on your nose or nasal packs inside your nostrils.

What Should I Expect After Piezo Rhinoplasty Surgery?

The recovery process will take several weeks, and you may feel pain or discomfort in the first two days. But your doctor will prescribe pain relievers that will help ease the pain. After the surgery, you will spend the first night at the hospital under your doctor's supervision.

First Week After the Surgery

During the first week after the procedure, you may feel uncomfortable, and you're expected to:

  • Wear a splint on your nose
  • Feel sore and experience breathing difficulties.
  • Wear a compression bandage under your nose to soak up any fluid or blood
  • Experience discomfort inside your nose
  • Have swelling for the first 3 days
  • Notice some minor bruises.

Second Week After the Surgery

In the second week, you will have to follow up with a doctor and remove your splint. During this period, you can expect the following:

  • The dissolvable sutures will start to disappear
  • Swelling and bruises on your nose will begin to disappear.
  • Your appearance will gradually get back to normal, and you can make public appearances.
  • You can return to work in the second week (that is, if your job doesn't involve physical activities).
  • The incision will start to shrink and become smaller.

Third Week After the Surgery

From this stage onwards, you will begin to notice the surgery results. Here is what you should expect:

  • The swelling will be minor, and you will see subtle changes.
  • Your incision will be slightly reddish, but it can easily be covered using makeup. You can start exercising.

Week Four and after

A month after the surgery, most of the swelling will fade. In six months up to a year, you can expect to see the final results.

FAQ

What is the Ultrasonic/ Piezo Rhinoplasty Technique?

The Piezo rhinoplasty technique uses ultrasound technology to cut and shape the nasal bones. It causes less bleeding, less bruising, less swelling, and a faster recovery.

Is Piezo Rhinoplasty Painful?

No pain is felt during the operation due to anesthesia. Expect a faster recovery period compared to conventional rhinoplasty. Because the instrument used in ultrasonic rhinoplasty does not damage soft tissues.

What Is the Difference Between Traditional Rhinoplasty and Piezo Rhinoplasty?

Ultrasonic rhinoplasty uses a piezotome instrument that uses ultrasonic energy. This device has a higher precision in carving the bone, which causes minor damage to the surrounding soft tissue. But traditional rhinoplasty surgery uses a hammer and chisel; this causes more damage to the soft tissue.

Is Piezo Rhinoplasty Better?

It is a more gentle technique that gives the surgeon great precision to carve the nasal bone.

Do Piezo Rhinoplasty Results Last Forever?

It is vital to choose the right surgeon. Some surgeries need an upgrade after some years. But a good rhinoplasty surgery will last you a lifetime.

Is Piezo Rhinoplasty Abroad affordable?

Some of the factors that affect the piezo rhinoplasty cost are the location of the clinics, the surgeon's experience, and the technique used. But in general, yes, having the treatment abroad will be cheaper compared to the UK, USA, and most European countries.

Ana was extremely helpful, friendly and made planning my trip so much easier. I don't know what I would have done without her! Going overseas to a country you've never been to before to get plastic surgery can be scary, having Ana made it a lot less scary knowing you have somebody there that's on your team to help you.
