Rhinoplasty has a success rate of 85-90%.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty or injection rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty, also known as a nose job, is a reconstructive surgery that is performed to enhance the appearance of the nose or improve nasal functions. There are 4 different types of rhinoplasty surgery, and they all have different goals.
For your online consultation, we will kindly ask you to send your photos as shown in the Photography Guide down below, so we can evaluate your case.
Reduction rhinoplasty is designed so as to enhance the nasal features such as the bridge, nasal tip, and nostrils. Suppose you have a hump on your nose, the surgeon will reduce the bone and cartilage material that causes that “hump”.
If it is your nose tip that needs an operation, the cartilage tissues forming the support under the tip will be partially removed or reshaped. The entire goal of a reduction rhinoplasty is to enhance your nose appearance by making it more proportional to your facial features.
Augmentation rhinoplasty can be used for both aesthetic and functional purposes. Typically, it is performed to reshape the nasal features. Your nose tip can also be augmented using this procedure. The grafts may also be placed to camouflage irregularities of the upper or lower lateral cartilages.
Considering that nasal fractures are the most common fractures of the adult facial skeleton, you may also experience midface trauma that can result from nasal deformity/deviation and nasal airflow impedance.
Your surgeon will perform rhinoplasty to correct any deformities that occurred as a result of a traumatic injury. This type of rhinoplasty is not suitable for aesthetic concerns.
During reconstructive rhinoplasty, your surgeon’s aim is to restore your nose to a more normal state both aesthetically and functionally. Generally, this requires reshaping the nose and replacing the missing skin and cartilage tissue. Since reconstructive rhinoplasty is relatively complex than the other types of rhinoplasty, you may need a second surgery later on.
The rhinoplasty procedure can also be combined with these surgeries:
Septoplasty: This is a surgical procedure that aims to correct your deviated septum. A deviated septum can cause breathing difficulties and, in some cases, facial pain. With septoplasty surgery, the surgeon can restore your nasal functions.
Alar Base Reduction: This procedure aims to make the sizes of nostrils even, reduce the tip or the overall size of the nose.
Cartilage Transplantation: This is an advanced option. If you don’t have a sufficient amount of cartilage to reconstruct the nose, the surgeon will take cartilage from your ears or ribs. This is an ideal surgery if you have had rhinoplasty surgery before.
We will plan and customize the whole procedure so as to suit your personal preferences, needs, and the clinics’ practices. Although it can differ from one patient to the other, there are quite a few stages involved in this procedure. To give you an idea, here is what you can expect:
We have numerous clinics that specialize in rhinoplasty surgery, and they offer various types of anesthesia, such as the following:
● IV Sedation
● General Anesthesia
Your surgeon will decide on the type of anesthesia that best suits your needs.
After the surgery, you will spend the first night at the hospital, under your doctor's supervision. The recovery process will take several weeks, and you may feel pain or discomfort in the first two days, but your doctor will prescribe meds that will help relieve pain.
First Week After the Surgery
During the first week after the procedure, you may feel uncomfortable, and you’re expected to:
Second Week After the Surgery
In the second week, you will have to see a doctor and have your cast and packing removed. During this period, you can expect the following:
Third Week After the Surgery
From this moment onwards, you will begin to notice the results of the surgery. To be precise, here is what you should expect:
Week Four and Further
A month after the surgery, most of the swelling will be gone. 95% of the swelling will be gone in the period between the 3rd and 6th months. You can expect to see the final results after a year.
Is Rhinoplasty Painful?
During the surgery, patients cannot feel any pain or discomfort due to the anesthesia used. After the surgery, if the patients experience a certain amount of pain, they may use medications prescribed by their surgeons to relieve postoperative pain.
Will I Need to Stay In The Hospital?
Apart from the rare cases, patients are usually able to safely leave the hospital the same day after rhinoplasty surgery.
How Long Does It Take for Postoperative Swelling to Go Down After Rhinoplasty?
Postoperative swelling and some bruising around the eyes begin to improve after the third day and it can last up to two weeks.
