Tummy tuck or abdominoplasty aims to tighten and reshape
the abdominal area and helps to achieve a flatter midsection, slimmer
appearance and increasing self-confidence.
During the tummy tuck procedure which is one of the top five most performed procedures in 2018, surgeons tighten the abdominal muscles and remove the excess and sagging skin to correct a protruding belly and creating a firmer abdomen. A tummy tuck can be a life-changing procedure for those who have been carrying extra fat around their stomach area and can't get rid of it. Although tummy tuck procedure is more popular among women, men also undergo this surgery to achieve a better-toned abdomen appearance.

Recovery Time
Tummy tuck recovery depends on the scope of the
procedure. A mini tummy tuck has a shorter recovery time than a full
abdominoplasty plus liposuction, which usually takes about two weeks to resume
work and 3-4 weeks to return to light and moderate intensity physical
activities.

How Does it Work?
Tummy tuck, sometimes referred to as abdominoplasty, is a cosmetic surgical procedure that is designed to make the abdomen more thinner, flat and firm. It is a procedure that is highly recommended if you aim to remove the scars, excess skin, fat and stretch marks around your tummy. There are four different types of tummy tuck surgery, and these are:
1. Standard or Full Tummy Tuck
The full tummy tuck is suitable for people who have excess skin or fat around the lower abdomen. Considering that it is a more complicated surgery, the incisions will be bigger.
2. Mini Tummy Tuck
If you have a small amount of fat and excess skin to be removed, the mini tummy tuck is the perfect option for you. Since the unwanted skin that is to be removed is smaller, the incisions will be smaller, too.
3. Extended Tummy Tuck
In an extended tummy tuck, your surgeon will not limit the procedure to the abdomen; he/she will also remove excess skin and unwanted fat from the sides of your lower back (i.e., around the hips). Since this technique is designed to remove excess skin than the Mini Tummy Tuck, if you want to have a massive loss of weight, you should consider it.
4. Belt lipectomy ( circumferential abdominoplasty)
If you have excess fat and skin all-around your entire belt area, belt lipectomy is the type of tummy tuck that you need. In addition to the belt area, the surgeon can also remove the loose skin around the buttocks too.

What Does Tummy
Tuck Surgery Involve?
Once you have decided to undergo the Tummy tuck surgery, we will make sure that you have a pleasant trip and the type of procedure you want will be customized to suit your personal preferences, needs as well as the clinic’s practices. Here is a brief guide of some of the stages you will have to go through:
1. Preparation for Surgery
After having a face-to-face consultation with your
surgeon at the clinic, you will undergo some physical and blood tests so as to
check your overall health condition. When your surgeon is satisfied by your
test results, he/she will draw the incision marks and you will be given general
anesthesia so that you do not feel any pain during the surgery.
2. Tummy Tuck Procedure
If
you are having full tummy tuck surgery, your surgeon will make a hip-to-hip
incision/cut below the navel and another scar will be on the belly buttock so
that it can be adjusted as soon as the excess fat has been removed from the
upper abdomen.
After this step, the abdomen muscles will then be
tightened using internal sutures and the surgeon will then pull down the
remaining skin over the stomach. Drainage tubes may be placed under your skin;
these are removed in a few days according to your surgeon's decision.
If you are undergoing Mini or partial tummy tuck, your incision will be shorter. Your surgeon doesn’t have to reposition the navel or remove the excess skin in the upper abdominal if this technique only required 4-8 inches scar above the pubic area.

FAQ
Is Tummy Tuck
Painful?
You may feel pain or soreness after the procedure is
done. However, your surgeon may prescribe painkillers to relieve this pain and
discomfort.
Does Tummy Tuck
Leave a Scar?
Because it is a surgical procedure which requires a
horizontal incision, tummy tuck leaves a scar. As mini tummy tuck is performed
through a smaller incision, it leaves a shorter scar.
What Are the Types
of Tummy Tuck Procedure?
There are different types and techniques of tummy tuck such as mini tummy tuck, standard, complete or full tummy tuck, high lateral tension or extended tummy tuck.
